Sophos Home?
Have anyone ever heard and tried Sophos Home free antivirus? If yes, than do you think this software worth it to replace Windows Defender? Just curious.

Hi:
I have no personal experience with the product.
But, from what I have seen at other fora, it is relatively new (Feb 2016) and is cloud-based, with the inherent advantages and disadvantages of that approach.
Aside from MS MSE/WD, most of the "free" AVs carry some disadvantages, including toolbars, upgrade ads/popups, reduced features, reduced support, etc. So one must weigh those factors against the free cost.
I do not know whether these drawbacks plague this Sophos product, too.
>>As of March 2016, however, it did lack a quarantine feature or the ability to restore a False Positive -- I do not know if that has been fixed yet.
>>Slow scan times have also been reported by some users.
Having said that, most of the feedback I see at other fora is generally positive.
Cheers,
MM
Local settings can be changed only online via IE's interface window, I assume activex?!
So you need IE to be installed, in order to use it. There are better alternatives than this.
If you are interested in cloud AV, try Panda, but it can block internet while checking files.
