    I have been unable to succesfully cleaning 5 unwanted Chrome extensions. I have tried AdWcleaner, ZHPCleaner, RogueKiller, Zemana antimalware. In the interim I have posted at Malwarebytes forum.
    A guess going by what they said in one of the comments:

    Try an old version of chrome and copy that data into it. Maybe Chrome will run, maybe it won't. If it does run you can update it and try running AdwCleaner again.

    Regarding Chrome data: I don't use chrome but you should be able to backup and restore profiles to a new install or other machine using this:

    https://www.softpedia.com/get/System...-Restore.shtml

    Portable so you can copy the program and backup files to any machine where you need to restore a profile.

    New update today.
    All you need to do is open 8.0.8 and it will ask you if you want to download the new version, and it will download it to where your current version is placed, so no needing to go to Downloads, and moving it.

    ## v8.0.9 [11/01/2021]

    ### New Features

    * Only ask for a reboot when needed rather than everytime after cleaning. It is now only required to reboot when an element cannot be quarantined without rebooting.

    ### Changes

    * Remove the survey dialog to reduce the number of clicks.
    * Update translations
    * Update definitions to 2021.11.1

    ### Bugfixes

    * Allow Splashtop remote control to keep running while doing the cleanup.

    I started 8.0.8 and it asked if I wanted to download 8.0.9 which I did. I then got this:

    Malwarebytes Acquires AdwCleaner-image.png

    When I click on Launch, nothing happens. If I click on Open Location and run adwcleaner_8.0.9.exe and it also does nothing. If I close 8.0.8 and start 8.0.9 it runs but doesn't do any kind of install, just runs like it's a portable version.

    Edit: So it looks like Adwcleaner is a stand alone program that does not require an install. I had forgotten that.

    And, do not delete everything it finds. For example, on my laptops, it flagged Auslogics Drivers Updater, MS MRT, DLL-finder, along with a few other things that I was glad to let it delete.
