For example, on a clean install for my Dell laptop I have deliberately install the 'Dell Command | Power Manager'. This gives access to the battery charging schemes that otherwise can only be set up in the bios. There's no obvious way to exclude a particular OEM software detection - not until you right-click on it, that is.

Similar scenario, same package. On mine, it gives me the Alienware OC, LED Controls, and BIOS, and Thermal Controller updates, among others. Otherwise, it's a real PITA to go dig them out.
