Hi:
I mean no disrespect, @p060477, but it has been pointed out several times that:
Lack of support is just one of the disadvantages of many of the 3rd-party "free" AVs.The help available for Avira Free is limited to a Peer forum ( other users only) if you need technical help from Avira they expect you to purchase a licence - which is their decision and is similar to a number of other software providers who offer a fully working free version and Paid for help
I would not expect that a solution based on complaints here at tenforums will be forthcoming from Avira any time soon.
I'm sure this is frustrating for you.
At this point, possible strategies might include:
- Putting up with the bug; OR (as others have done)
- Upgrading to the paid version of Avira; OR
- Changing to a different AV
Just a friendly suggestion,:)

I made an account just to comment on this thread.. lol..
If you are still having an issue with this, please try
Right click "Show hidden icons" arrow
Click "Task Manager"
Under "Background Processes"
Find "Avira Service Host"
Click the expand arrow
Right click "Avira Service Host" (the one with the gear icon that is in the expanded view)
Click "Open Services"
Locate "Avira Service Host"
Right Click and click "Properties"
Click the "Log On" tab
Check the box for "Allow service to interact with desktop"
Click "Apply"
Restart your computer
Let me know if this worked for you. It worked for me. Running Windows 10.
Just an FYI I am also running Windows 10 version 1607.
Would you please screen shot or list the Avira related "Background Processes", "Startup" and "Services" in the Task Manager and if they are running or stopped?
