All you folks that have the same problem, please try the following:

On your keyboard press the Windows button and R simultaneously.
In the Open area of Run, type: MSConfig
    Click: OK

When the System Configuration window opens, click on: StartUp
    Now click: Open Task Manager
In Task Manager, find the entry: Avira SystrayStartTrigger
    Click: Disable

    Restart your computer.

Is the Avira Icon visible in the system tray?
is it named "avira system tray application" in the current build? thats the only thing i find and disabling this fixed it for me

    Hi,
For those users who still suffer from the disappeared Avira tray icon can check the following for troubleshooting:

    - Do you experience a delayed Windows boot up process?
    - Do you use any optimizer tools or other security software that might interfer?
    - Since when does it happen? What have been changed on the computer before the issue?
    - Which Avira processes are active in Task Manager? (avgnt.exe / avira.systray.exe)

Does the Avira icon appear again after starting the following program manually?

    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Avira\Launcher\Avira.Systray.exe"
Thank you very much for the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Avira\Launcher\Avira.Systray.exe" trick! Still, reboot DOES require this manual clicking to get the icon to appear.

    - No specific "delayed" boot up as far as I can tell. Maybe I did not get the first question.

    - I use Comodo for firewall / hips but no comodo logs show any interference. Comodo + Avira combo has worked for me for the last 10 years on various systems.

    - Can't say how long this has been going on. There were other solutions for similar problem in the past that worked on other systems (e.g. restarting a service) but on Win 10 system nothing helps. Avira Service Host is running and set to Automatic start and is among processes (in the past this was related but it works on Win 10 just fine)

    - Active Avira processes in Task Manager: avgnt.exe, avguard.exe, Avira.ServiceHost.exe, Avira.SoftwareUpdater.ServiceHost.exe, avshadow.exe

Clicking on "C:\Program Files (x86)\Avira\Launcher\Avira.Systray.exe" makes the icon appear for me and after this, Avira.Systray.exe also appears in Task Manager. The icon does not appear on its own upon reboot (in last few days, I rebooted many times and it never appeared on its own).

Further, in Task Manager -> Startup tab I see Avira and it's Enabled (Disabling it as someone suggested did not solve the issue), but I only see a single "Avira" entry there, not "avira system tray application" or anything about systray in Startup tab.

I have solved this problem by 2 simple steps:

    1. create a shortcut "C:\Program Files (x86)\Avira\Launcher\Avira.Systray.exe"
    2. navigate to C:\Users\[Your_username]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
    3. put this shortcut to startup folder

You can find appdata folder by typing %appdata% in explorers navigation bar or search in taskbar.
