What the crappity-do-da-day am I doing wrong? I hit f9, get to boot options, choose USB, and then it goes to the blue "starting" screen taking me to the "password" screen, like it always does when I restart, or need to "awaken" it. There is no Cosmic Dog, or anything else after I click on USB boot option. I am going to try something, and I will get back to you shortly, hopefully a few minutes.

I'm running a scan from the rescue cd now.
I'll post the screen cpatures in a while (running for an hour now - probably another hour to go)
It's a bit tricky to get to the boot options menu but it sounds as though you're getting to the right place.
Are there other options on the screen? UEFI USB perhaps?
If there is - select the UEFI USB device and try again.
One other possibility is that the Flash drive is not marked active
I'd like to see your Disk Management
- Download dmDskmgr-vg.zip (contains dmDskmgr-vg.mmc)
- Open the compressed folder, dmDskmgr-vg.zip
Double click dmDskmgr-vg.mmc to launch it
Press the Open button if prompted Do you want to open this file?
Answer yes to the User Account Control prompt
Tip: you can drag the middle bar up to show more of the bottom pane
(just don't drag it too far up - I also need the information in the top pane)- Press Alt+PrtScn to grab a snapshot of just the Disk Management window
Open Paint and Ctrl+V to paste it, then save the image
- Attach the image to a new post

Cutting to the chase, here, I opened each folder in the USB flash, and the level of my stupidity wonders how I tie my shoes (no wonder I wear boots with faux laces, or heels), maybe the altitude's oxygen level affects the brains capacity of logic. Do you suppose, hypothetically, the origination of the infected application (.exe) in Drive F (my very first post) is wise to use before everything is all said and done? Despite, the description of Drive F: DVD CD Rom where the app states existing, we all know DVD CD Rom is Drive D, right (to the best of my knowledge). Drive F: is the USB aka Flash Drive....so, upon opening each folder I thought I would try to run or open Bitdefender app to see if I saw any signs of life, per se.
The reason it did not boot off the flash, apparently, is because the file is corrupted. Whether, or not it is due to my attempt to open it without booting from it, I do not know, but seeing as it was not working what did it matter. You are much more apt to answer that question. I can not help but delve further into this mediocre phenomenon consuming time better spent on anything but this, seriously, anything. I did notice the bitdefender-rescue-cd .iso (Disc Image File) in one of the flash folders and right-clicked properties, and its location is DVD Drive G (of course, it is, it is not on a CD or DVD):

There is no D: drive, G: is your optical drive.
Nice job on the Disk Management ... I usually have to admonish a member who doesn't expand the status column - but you did
The flash drive is marked active, so I'm at a loss to explain why it doesn't boot.
The PUP in post #1 has been gone a long time. The ISO it came in was mounted as drive F: - that ISO is also gone.
The only other identified threat was Poweliks - ESET Poweliks tool confirmed that is gone.
All other on-demand scanners have reported no threats or cleaned up minor things.
Why run Bitdefender Rescue? Because it is a Linux boot, it doesn't load Windows registry or startup items ... malware can't load.
The scan on my machine just finished and it found 10 things ... I had to scan it a 2nd time after updating the CD.
Why? The CD was created before 1607 was released and it reported some system files are malware. After updating the CD, the files were no longer reported as malware.
Given that all of these things are brand new to you and we're at a point where a mistake could be costly (more time spent on this that could be better spent on anything else), I think the best thing to do is change gears once again.
The objective remains the same - give you an All Clear signal. You'll just use a different tool
ESET online had issues, Bitdefender Rescue caused grey hair ... so Windows Defender Offline will have to suffice.
Settings > Updates & security > Defender
scroll down to Defender offline and launch it.
There are only two things remaining after Defender offline, Dism & SFC, and neither require booting to external media.
Command Prompt (Admin)
Enter the following lines in the Command Prompt window:
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
SFC /ScanNow
cd
If there are any errors on the screen after the commands run,
Navigate to C:\Windows\Logs
Right click the CBS folder
Select Send to > Compressed (zip) folderAttach the zip folder to your next post
answer yes to place on Desktop

Defender is coming up on its 2nd hour of a Full Scan, and not close to halfway done.

I do not know when it is done, or what this means, but showing you where I am at:
There are 4 .zip folders and one text log. Should I attach all? Of, course I will. Maybe not, I left the command prompt open in case it was not done doing its thing, and glad I did, because after what seemingly is forever, it now says the restore operation completed successfully...the operation completed successfully and is beginning its scan (that could take a while). I will let it go, and post results after. Oh, when attempting to attach the CBS text log, I was denied due to its size.
These lines are a constant throughout this never ending log:

Primitive installers committed for repair
If you want to see the whole log I need an alternative to attaching.

This is the scan results I, think that finished. It does say 100%, but did not know if that was all it was doing, being it took so long to get that far.

I have another question, if you do not mind. In the Run DISM/SFC tutorials the scans are "online," is this relevant to me? Did I miss something, of which is very likely, but seeing that the scans came up clean I do not know whether, or not this is another step. I will go back and check for anything missed, once more, and can not express my appreciation enough for what you do, all of you.
