disable windows defender icon in the notification area

    Yep, Windows Defender will still be protecting your PC. However, if you open or use Windows Defender, the notification icon will show again until the next time you sign out/in.

    thats great to know my pc will be protected.. but the icon is back again... even after disabling it from start up with ccleaner...

    Do both WD entries show as disabled in Task Manager?

    the windows defender notification area icon just showed up in taskmanager so i was able to disable it and reboot my computer, and after several reboots the icon is still gone it seems.. so the problem is solved.. thanks for the help
