Cleaned the adware out, but the registry key is still there. I didn't get the exact thing in CCleaner when i scanned the registry, but something similar

Okay. I usually uncheck Help Files when I run Ccleaner on the registry, only because some program's help files are not fully initiated until they are run the first time.

It might be easier to run it, checking only one or two items at a time, so there are not so many things to evaluate at once. I would also have a look at your startup items and scheduled tasks (in Ccleaner Tools>Startup tab) for anything suspicious.

It seems to me that this reg key may be a leftover from a previous cleaning?

I dunno if its a leftover from a previous cleaning.
I dont see this registry key coming up anywhere in the CCleaner scan. Startups are good as well. Here it is in the registry

Is it safe to just delete it?

Have a look here first and see if any of these games ring a bell:
    What is dfpatcher.exe ? dfpatcher.exe info

There's nothing showing in installed programs to delete there?

Okay, I would - just to be safe - back up your registry (or just the key, if you know how to do that), then go ahead and delete it. Then if you get any errors, you have your registry backed up to fix the problem.

Still, I think Ccleaner would have flagged that if there wasn't still something on your system using it...but we'll see.
