I suggest adding that once they are removed, you do a dism checkhealth and sfc scannow as some of these integrate with windows pretty hard and removing them sometimes causes issues with the windows install. So after running any removal tool to clear them out, I would check the health of the ten install.

    I tend to agree.

If the software has a quality uninstaller (most don't) then there is rarely a need.
Many of these AV/FW have a "cleanup tool" available to help clean traces, though most are still imperfect.

IMHO, If you are going to install cleanly, you should be able to uninstall cleanly. Nothing like a quality uninstaller!

    FWIW.

Post # 1 at top of this topic, on Malwarebytes mbam-clean tool, should be modified to reflect that mbam-clean is only for the older Malwarebytes versions 2 and earlier.
To fully uninstall Malwarebytes for Windows version 3 or 4, see the Malwarebytes Support tool
    https://support.malwarebytes.com/hc/...s/360039023473
and at step 12 Select NO when prompted to install the current Malwarebytes.
    Cheers.

Thanks for your input. I think we'll need a moderator to make changes to the first post. @essenbe can you help?

    Hi folks

as always --BEST and SAFEST method (and usually the quickest) is to take regular clean image backups - then simply using the stand alone bootable media these packages come with - simply restore clean image --job done - simple and 100% effective.

Take regular backups --especially before installing programs likely to interfere with registry e.g things like cc Cleaner (you wouldn't need that in any case if you had taken a backup before installing software that needs that type of stuff) and then simply restore if you have problems.

Free Macrium is a Free program that's used by a lot of members of these forums but choose any -- ALWAYS HAVE REGULAR CLEAN BACKUPS --this stuff is laboured ad nauseam on the forums --it's amazing people STILL don't do regular backups -- there's endless discussions on weird obscure viruses which probably only 1 person has ever seen this side of the great Giant Red star Arcturus -- but hardly any on the importance of taking regular backups !!!!

Nobody should IMO ever be allowed in the same room as a computer until they had learned how to back it up.

These days also the API for Windows is published and well known by reliable Software developers - so unless programs come with proper instructions on how to install -- and possibly even more important - how to uninstall cleanly then avoid -- there's no reason these days for programs supplied by 3rd parties whether free or paid software to not install and uninstall cleanly using "bog standard" windows facilities

    Cheers

Do you recommend a better one than Macrium? Free or paid?
