    Trojan.ServStart.Cleaner-HcH?

So I bought a bunch of stuff at a yard sale. A stack of cds was included. I was going through them. mostly mp3's and wma's. I noticed on one it had a zip file called "WM8850_Universal_Uberoid_v3.1_JB_4.1.1_22NOV2013-HcH-[www.TechKnow.me]" I opened out of curiosity, and one of the folders had Trojan.ServStart.Cleaner-HcH in its name. I immediately closed the zip file and ejected the cd.

Now I'm afraid I might have caught a virus. The only thing I could find about this is on face book:

    Any help would be appreciated.

Go to the forums at majorgeeks.com. Then go into the malware post that states "Read me first". It will walk you through the cleanup proces.

Do not connect that machine to your network or the Internet. A lot of malware can travel around the network infecting other machines.

Supposedly this is for some program that is supposed to be safe. What is Trojan.ServStart.Cleaner.v1.2-HcH.exe ? Trojan.ServStart.Cleaner.v1.2-HcH.exe info

Sounds like a Trojan cleaning program to me - for cleaning, not infecting. You could run Malwarebytes Antimalware Free and then ADWCleaner to see if you got anything, but I doubt it. What AV are you using?

You need to follow the directions to check for malware, regardless. Always check your system after loading from something that you think may have allowed malware on your system. There are nasty's that wait for someone to run a CD a jump onto a system to spread.

As always, I agree with bro67 and simrick.. However, be careful if you go to the link in the OP's post (http://processchecker.com/file/Troja...2-HcH.exe.html) - since when I did, I got slammed with malware popups. I immediately closed the tab, then went back and no popups this time. JS, stay safe.
