what are the best tools today to totally shut down Win 10 telemetry?

For Win 10 Pro and Home installations on a home LAN with Comcast cable ISP service, and a laptop running Win 10 Pro which travels around in the US and overseas, what tools provide comprehensive coverage to shut down Microsoft telemetry, ideally with minimal resource impact and duplication?

    Thanks.

Hello, you can try Spybot Antibeacon, but note that in changing these settings you must take special care to try to avoid symptoms like:
    - Cortana not working
    - Search in Settings not working
    - Some settings are managed by your organisation appearing in Settings, perhaps in Windows Update or Privacy, General.

Like O&O Shutup, it includes a helpful button to reset to default- helps when some of the symptoms above are manifest.

Note that it seems to reapply settings after some time- I had to uncheck some I didn't want.

I just downloaded it and installed it on my wife's desktop, which is already running Win 10. Looks very impressive. Is there any way to get a full listing of all the registry keys, IP addresses, services, etc., that it potentially or actually blocks? I'm asking because there seems to be other programs that claim to do the same thing and I'm concerned that if I run some of these other programs after running Anti-Beacon, I could cripple her system. And that would not be cool.

Hello, in my experience of it all is reversible using the tool. However using such tools can stop some of the more - er- delicate features working as I suggested. The undo button works.

If you wanted to find out what happens in the registry (but not sure that helps) you could use Regshot (freeware) - before and after snapshots.

Make changes cautiously. Don't use all at once. Leave some time, check. And the concerns about MS spying seem to be overdone.. it's more about making sure Win 10 features like sharing updates and uploading them don't burden your connection, for example.
