Advice on my virus prevention - what would you change?

    Hello
    I have W10 home.
For years I have run paid for AVG with backup from Malwarebytes Anti malware and Anti exploit.
Recently I am noticing that AVG keep offering paid for additions where before I took them to be part of the virus package. almost as if each individual piece is now being updated and then resold back to you.
I did have a lot of faith in their product and as such I'm feeling obliged/ pressured to take the new offerings to remain safe.
Doing this of course makes the cost rise substantially. Who are the best people to compare like for like security software so as I can make an informed judgment on which one provides the best security and gives value for money.

My AVG years subs have just run out And I'm wondering if a change now would get me something better.

    Regards

My opinion: you should choose any AV you like but YOU NEED TO ADD SOME LAYERS of security alongside. You already mentioned MBAM and MBAE which are good to have. Maybe same antiransomware protection would be good. Ah yes, and I healthy dose of common sense.

Stick with Windows Defender, MBAM, MBAE and using your brain and you'll be OK :)

Thanks Gents as you say common sense helps a lot but it is those little unforeseen nasty's that I might miss that I worry about.
I know most protection is playing catch up but I do feel better having one and wondered which has a good rating just now.
Windows Defender - AVG - pull the plug out the wall and leave it switched off..................

I'll probably stick with AVG and the Malware bits.

    Thanks all.
