    boot disk ?

    hi all
is there an anti virus boot disk available for windows 10?
on a laptop i am repairing that is infected, malwarebytes premium and defenender are finding them(5017 at latest count) but when i click on remove all selected , malwerebytes and defender lock up.
I tried all restore points and recovery options.
i do not want to have recycle the machine as the key codes are now internal, I know the activation is genuine as i purchased 5 of them last year and the rest are fine.

    Anyone help? please
These were great on older O/S and i used them all the time.

Although I am not sure what you mean by:
"i do not want to have recycle the machine as the key codes are now internal"

If it is that bad, why not just wipe the hard drive and re-install Windows 10 on it?

    Hello toppergraph:

Along with the link above, the following link may also be helpful:

The above is a good a point as any to see which of them still offers a bootable rescue media.

In frustration i did as you sugested and tried to wipe the drive(custom set up)after deleting the partitions, the windows 10 instalation disk no longer recognises the hard drive. This is what happens when you spend 36 hours solid on a problem. i have put this on the back burner untill i can find some software to repair the hard drive and read up on the bios settings for this machine.

ps The bitdefender 2015 rescue cd worked great on my machine no problem. before i lost the system compleatly on the laptop it got passed the splash screen loaded some code then stopped and asked me to logon. it just bypassed this on my machine.

pps the tekie i spoke to at asus informed me that they no longer put key sticker on the cases its inside the machine itself.weather he meant printed or a firmware method i am not sure.
    I shall continue after break.

    thanks again both for hep

    regards Topper.

    Hi.
Kaspersky have a rescue disk you could try.
    Download Kaspersky Rescue Disk 10

How to Use the Kaspersky Rescue Disk to Clean Your Infected PC

Note: A clean install of W10 on a system that has already been activated with W10 will activate once again, without the need for inputting a key.

It does not recognize the drive at all, or it just shows the drive as an unallocated space?

It did not even see it.
I have now replaced the drive:-
    Re loaded windows 10:-
Activation and verification was all O/K (No need to input new key):-
The machine is now working as was: prior to the problem:-

There is a lot to be said for the Cloud and for Backup:-

How this virus/malware slipped past defender and Malwarebytes i do not Know.
(you never get the real story from the end user do you?).

I shall put the guilty drive in a housing and investigate further with my own machine that has more software tools to aid me.

Its a good job I do not do this for a living.
40 hours on and off @ £365 an hour.

joking aside. you do not charge friends and parents.

    sorted sort of.
    thanks for efforts all

Kyhi's recovery drive also has a low level format utility on it.
