I don't mean to muddy your waters any more than they are, but it smells like there's a piece of the old 3.0, a driver or a .dll or something floating around. I know you've run their cleaner and all. Do you have Revo uninstaller? I recall having a real problem a while back with one of the 3.0 flavors, and I had to use Revo forced uninstall and still go back with Autoruns and look for anything that was even remotely MBAM. Found some Chameleon leftovers and a driver. Nailed everything I could find, looked thru Program Files & x86 & Program Data and deleted anything suspicious. Rebooted and installed. All fine.
It's possible as when I built this system I installed 3.0, although I've used mbclean twice today which you'd think would clean it up. Right now 1469 has run well the last two weeks and now that it is reinstalled the BSODs are gone so I'm leaving as is for now and will try the next component update Malwarebytes releases. Probably won't be a very long wait I suspect.

FWIW, you shouldn't need to completely uninstall MBAM to apply this update. Just install the latest over top of the current. Has worked fine that way last several updates.
If you download the new installer, MB is recommending you delete the current version and do a clean install.

Just wanted to let everyone know that we’ve started pushing out a new component package update. You should receive this automatically if you are running 3.0.5 or 3.0.6. We are metering these updates out, so you may not receive yours immediately. If you prefer, you may download any install our "updated" mb3-setup-consumer-3.0.6.1469-1075.exe installer from this link. This installer is posted and available from our main website. If you already have an earlier version of Malwarebytes 3.0.5 or 3.0.6 installed, we recommend that you uninstall the old version first and then install this newer version (please make a note of your key before doing so).

Don't get me wrong, I like MBAM and it works ok here. Buttttttttttt........MBclean? Kinda like asking the fox to clean up while he's watching the henhouse.... You do whatever feels the right way for you. It's your box. I mean that honestly. You'll get it straightened out.

You had the right idea, using Revo to un-install MB is what I would have done also. Using MBclean ....I would not trust it either TC.

I know what your saying. I really hate adding programs like Revo though to do things I think the OS should do well enough natively.

Psychological, I know. Sometimes you just gotta get a bigger hammer. Your call, but I bet if you take some time to ferret out whatever is hanging on, it'll work.

Here is the recommended procedure to run the new mb-clean 2.4.1.1000.

What do I need to know before running mb-clean.exe?
    • Warning: It does not backup the license activation key. Please make sure to backup or obtain the license activation information before running the tool in order to restore paid versions.
    • Warning: We also recommend deactivating the product before running the tool. Refer to the links under "Helpful Resources" for detailed instructions.
    • It does not clean Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for Mac or Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Mobile
    • It does not reinstall or repair a product; this can to be done manually after cleanup

What are the steps to use mb-clean.exe?

    1. Download the latest version: https://downloads.malwarebytes.com/file/mb_clean
    2. Close all open applications
    3. If applicable, backup your license key and deactivate the product
    4. Double-click mb-clean.exe to run it
    5. A prompt to confirm the cleanup will appear, select “Yes” or “No”
      • Yes - will proceed with the cleanup process
      • No - will exit the utility

    6. Utility will launch a Command Prompt window which will disappear once the the cleanup process completes.
    7. Once completed, a log file ("mb-cleanresult.txt") will be on your desktop and you'll be prompted to reboot
      • We recommend an immediate reboot
      • Suppressing the reboot may result in an incomplete cleanup

    8. Upon reboot, your machine will be free of the supported products mentioned above and ready for re-installation of Malwarebytes

I suppose if I said after removing any program, that I also run a registry cleaner, to remove all leftover traces of it. That would sure bring some more comments....
