    Thanks for the info explanation.
I might give it a go and D/L it myself or wait for the Auto-update to be turned on.
I'm a little surprised with the sloppy way this has been introduced from a company I have/had a lot of faith in.

    Thanks again all.

All everyone sees is the problems. People dont post when things are working fine. Both of mine work fine no slowdowns and my only issue is the false pop up that it is not on at start up which is a known issue.

Since the last update, I don't get those popup's anymore, at startup or any other time. :)

Just for the record I like MWB very much and have used it for years.

For anyone else wondering about this upgrade.
In addition to the help given above I also found the following on the MWB Help posts.
How do I upgrade my Malwarebytes Anti-Malware to Malwarebytes 3.0?
Simply download and run the installer from here. Malwarebytes 3.0 will automatically upgrade Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.x to Malwarebytes 3.0 and apply its license key accordingly.
How do I upgrade to Malwarebytes 3.0 if I also have Anti-Exploit or Anti-Ransomware installed?
Simply download and run the installer from here. Malwarebytes 3.0 will automatically remove the old Anti-Malware, Anti-Exploit and Anti-Ransomware and upgrade them all to Malwarebytes 3.0.

Not sure those links will directly work but they were taken from the Malwarebytes.com forum.

There have been some issues with installation. Just in case this does not work and you have to do a clean install make sure you have a copy of your licence ID (if you have one) and the key.

    Thanks Kado that's good advice.
However in my case I followed the link in my post above and it d/l and installed all ok and brought across all the "for life" licence details too.
All would be advised to follow your wise advice before attempting just incase.

    Hi:

It is encouraging to see reports of successful upgrades.

No one begrudges employees, resellers or other enthusiasts from reporting personally favorable results with Malwarebytes 3.0 on their own internal test beds and personal computers. Anything less would be worrisome.
And the latest patch build fixes a few problems.
So it's good to know that the team continues their hard work to improve the product.

But, to be fair, @Porthos, "works-for-me" replies in the face of 14-plus pages of trouble topics alone (not counting the "me, too!" posts) does not help the many users with a host of performance, stability, CPU usage, compatibility or other problems.
Some issues are not trivial or cosmetic, such as Windows user profile corruption. (The few reported cases may be only the tip of the iceberg. Many users faced with user profile corruption may not even associate it with Malwarebytes 3.0, as was the case here.)
Dismissing or minimizing trouble reports -- many of them from "advanced" and computer-savvy users -- serves no one.

Malwarebytes employees continue to post effusive, compelling, detailed explanations of how Malwarebytes 3.0 is supposed to be BOTH strong enough for SOLE protection AND also suitable for compatibility alongside a full AV. It's hard to understand how improvements to one endpoint also suit the other endpoint. They seem to be mutually exclusive.
This is especially so since some employees have fixed their own compatibility issues by uninstalling or disabling their AV, or have suggested that users replace their full AV with another product in order to run it with Malwarebytes 3.0.
    THAT does not constitute compatibility.

Nor do hyperbolic, compelling dissertations, explanations and advertisements about how “super-copter” Malwarebytes surpasses”, “makes obsolete”, “replaces” and is “more proficient” than a standard AV provide any objective, outside, independent, verifiable proof to support those assertions.
Many/most of the robust, fully-flagged, comparatively-tested, longstanding, highly-rated AVs also provide many of the same features as Malwarebytes 3.0 (e.g. malicious website blocking, anti-exploit, anti-rootkit, anti-ransomware, anti-PUP, heuristic detection, etc.).
These AVs also provide OTHER capabilities that Malwarebytes 3.0 lacks (e.g. detection of a wider range of malicious file types, file disinfection, protection against older malware variants that may still be in circulation, HIPS, firewall, etc.)

Malwarebytes 3.0 may be everything that the company claims that it is – that would be great.
It may do what it does better than other, similar products – that would be better.
It may (eventually) run smoothly on most systems alongside a real AV without having to uninstall or disable the other product – that would be even better still.
And it may suffice for sole protection, despite its publicly stated limitations and shortcomings.
(I personally prefer true, side-by-side compatibility and a layered approach with more than one application.)

The company has publicly stated that they are “discussing” the possibility of outside testing.
That is encouraging, even as they qualify the statement with preemptive disclaimers about how the tests should be conducted and reported.

Until such outside, objective, comparative, verifiable test results are publicly reported, however, employee and enthusiast claims about Malwarebytes 3.0’s inherent, wide-ranging superiority remain just that or even personal speculation.

If Malwarebytes would simply show credible evidence to support their assertions, then the debate and uncertainty would be over.
Customers (past, present and future) would have the data needed to make an informed and confident upgrade/purchase decision about this highly-touted product from this highly-regarded security software company.

Let us all hope that Malwarebytes 3.0 lives up to the company’s glowing, subjective claims with favorable, objective data.
That would constitute the best possible outcome for all stakeholders.

    Cheers,
    MM

I agree with your post where you speak of people having problems which must be discussed as others may well have the same problems. I upgraded to 3.05 today and had bad pool header problems when browsing the Internet so went back to 2.2 for now. I've helped Malwarebytes in the past as my machine had a very unique problem they had not encountered and they put the code that solved that problem in a patch; may well do that again but for the next few days with Christmas I won't be taking the time. I need a machine that will simply run, but I do consider Malwarebytes to be, usually, good software.

I've gone back to 2.2 as well. I've had the situation where some modules wouldn't enable and I've even had MBM revert itself back from 3.0.5 to 3. It has permission issues with mbae.sys which I think is the service provider file and you have to go into safe mode in order to delete it. You have to do this every time you need to upgrade and its too much hassle.
