Hey MM, have you noticed Malwarebytes forums changes on the homepage? Now the MBAE forum is converged with the MBAE beta.
It looks as if MB3 is the "new black".

I guess I need to update and make some changes and post some info, in my MBAE thread here.
    I'll do it tomorrow.

Yes, they have been "rearranging" and "remaking" the forum for many months now*.

Now that MBAE is formally part of version 3, MBAE as a standalone has changed to perpetual BETA.
So, it seems that the MBAE-BETA forum has moved to the BETA area.

    That may change again tomorrow.

    MM

Alas, I wonder if some of the folks leading that rearrangement are old enough to understand the reference.

BTW, I found out the hard way today helping a user upgrade from 1.75 to 2.2.1.1043 over at SF.com that the company has also taken a "scorched earth" policy to their own SUPPORT RESOURCES for MBAM2, even though it is not EOS/EOL until June 2017.

I was shocked to see that the company has summarily removed nearly all of their helpful user guides and KB articles for MBAM2. THIS and a tiny handful of KB articles are all I can find. It took some digging. The rest is GONE. Poof!

This is VERY disappointing, as many users will need or want to continue to run version 2 until it is EOS/EOL. They seem to be sweeping it under the rug even before the 6-month deadline approaches.

Again, this "scorched earth" approach to their own flagship product is unprecedented both for them and for other major security software vendors. (For example, I can pull up a downloads page for KIS2015 at their own site, as well as support articles for 2015 and even older versions, with a few mouse clicks.)

I can only shake my head in disbelief and disappointment.
The "what", the "when" and the "how" all leave me asking: WHY??

The more I read about MB3 the more hesitant I am to try it. I started using MBAM in 2010. Aside from a few hiccups along the way I've been very happy with how the free and paid versions behaved. But now, I'm not sure if Malwarebytes (the company) is heading in the right direction.

They don't seem to be very forthcoming as to why they're in such a rush to push out MB3 and stop supporting previous versions. In my limited experience, when a company hides things from its customers it usually means (1) they're ashamed of something; (2) they're afraid of something; or (3) they're trying to manipulate something. I guess time will tell if Malwarebytes falls into any of those categories.

I haven't seen if it's posted yet but under Settings- My Account there is a button you can click to revert to Free version from the trial.

    Hi MoxieMomma,

Historically, Malwarebytes would only attest to the safety of their installers from their own site (which, sadly is no longer an option for version 2.2.1.1043 even though it is NOT yet EOS/EOL)
The installer for Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.2.1.1043 can be obtained using the link below:

    Thanks for your post.

For the record: "Deactivate" account is not the same thing as "End Trial".

"Deactivate" is used by Premium users prior to a clean R&R, or if they wish to transfer a license from 1 PC to another.
Yes, it is supposed to revert the program to Free on that computer, if it works as intended.

"End Trial" is used by Trial users who are in the midst of the 14-day Trial and who do not wish either to activate the program to "Premium" with a paid license, or to wait out the 14 days for the program to automatically revert to Free.

In the past there were "End Trial" links both in the main GUI AND in a system tray popup notifying the user that the Trial was ending or expired. Clicking either of those links would revert the Trial version to Free.

If what @Cliff S reports is true, they have removed both of those links.
If what @chrismine reports is true, they may not have removed them. But the screen shot posted does not clarify that, unfortunately. (We would need to see a screenshot of the GUI or of a system tray popup from a system running the Trial version that shows the "End Trial" button/link.)

    Can anyone clarify this, please?

    Cheers,
    MM

(P.S. One could also let the Trial run out or perform a clean R&R in order to get back to the Free version. The latter worked because the policy was 1 Trial per PC per major program version. AFAIK that is still the case and these may now be the only two ways to get the Trial to revert to Free.)
