As I am sure you know, the Trial is for 14 days and at the end of the 14 days it reverts to Free. But, you can configure it to be free now. I have another OS with the Lifetime License that is activated. This is MB's showing of the differences between the Free and Premium version, which may tell you what to disable to revert from Trial to Free. I wish I could remember exactly what I did. I do recall I started off trying to disable all features that require the premium version.

OH CRAP!!! The Anti-Exploit will not be free like it has been!

It was one of the reasons I even joined Malwarebytes forums.
    I swear by MBAE
Time to go look for a different free anti exploit, and I guess... a different on demand malware scanner also(but definitely not the one from IOBIT(talk about foist ware!)), and get this new monstrosity off my PC.

Can anyone recommend another anti-exploit? MBAE was the best for my use. I don't want something heavy on my PC(or too restrictive)
Also I don't need a PUP scanner. I just need something that warns about CRAP Wrappers, like OpenCandy.
    OpenCandy

OpenCandy from SweetLabs, a company based in San Diego, is an advertising software module consisting of a Microsoft Windows library that can be incorporated in a Windows Installer. When a user installs an application that has the OpenCandy library, there is an option to install software that it recommends (based on a scan of the user's system and geolocation).

Did you see this on the Malwarebytes forum ?

Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit standalone(MBAE) will from now on be offered as a perpetual beta product. The standalone MBAE will incorporate new protection techniques for fine-tuning purposes before they are integrated into the Malwarebytes 3.x product.
Users who wish to continue using Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit only instead of Malwarebytes 3.0 will be able to do so through the use of this perpetual Beta.

What does this mean for current MBAE users?

    • Current MBAE users with Premium membership are eligible for a free upgrade to Malwarebytes 3.0 subscription with the existing MBAE license.
    • Current MBAE users with Free/Trial membership will be upgraded to MBAE Premium membership starting with our 1.10 release of the standalone MBAE beta.

    OH!

I just castrated Malwarebytes 3.0 down to an on-demand scanner, turned off the built in exploit and all auto-stuff(including updateing) so now I have MBAM 3.0?) and then installed the current MBAE beta from here: https://malwarebytes.app.box.com/s/c...ta57q1tl7a4i3p

^^ Be mindful that all of these new policies may change at any time. There has been significant flux in the past and recently. We can only guess what the next policies might be. ^^

BTW, if you anticipate a desire or need to roll-back to or reinstall version 2.2.1.1043 even before it goes EOS/EOL, be sure to keep the setup file somewhere safe.

Even though they said they will allow users to run it until June, it appears they are making it hard to do so:
    • A forum inquiry about the lack of availability of the 2.2.1.1043 installer by one of their own forum experts has gone unanswered; and
    • Some of the reputable third-party hosting sites (such as MajorGeeks), have already replaced it with version 3.
    • Other sites, such as CNET, cannot be trusted not to bundle/wrap the installer with PUPs or worse...

As of late yesterday, the 2.2.1.1043 installer could still be downloaded from FileHippo and a major computer help forum's download page.
I do not know how much longer that will last.

This aggressive strategy is unprecedented for Malwarebytes and for most other security software vendors.
Heck, if I wanted to do so, I could easily download KIS2015 from Kaspersky's own web site right this minute.

Both the short life-cycle (6 months to mothball their stable flagship product) and the lack of availability of the 2.2.1.1043 installer for those who want/need it seem to suit the company more than its customers.

I keep trying to convince myself that current events are a good thing. It's becoming harder and harder to do so.
I hope things will turn around, especially for us loyal customers.

Well I have tweaked MB3 Premium to manual mode only, only starts up when I click on it, and when I choose to turn it off, nothing is still running, all services are off. Doing this for testing at present time. So far I have not had any problems having MB3 setup this way. I have Complete Control. :)
