I thought you couldn't.
I have a dual boot system with 2 separate windows 10 installations on 2 separate disks and both installations have their own assigned lifetime key. For the last couple of years I could back up & restore with Macrium with no issues.
Now I have noticed the last couple of times I've restored an image on one of these installations Malwarebytes has reverted to the Free version after the restore.
As a test I made a Macrium backup a couple of days ago first making sure Malwarebytes was activated before the backup and then restoring the image yesterday. When I checked my activation after restore I was activated but when checking today I was reverted to the Free version.
I have since logged in to My Account and reactivated Malwarebytes and will see if this happens again when restoring an image.
I sure hope that I don't have to deactivate Malwarebytes each time before restoring an image on this dual boot system as it would be a royal pain and also a risk of too many activations.
I’ve noticed that if I restore a Macrium backup from the previous day or older then MB will revert to free & activating will give an error message about usage has been exceeded but restoring the same day’s backup is OK.
I set up an account at my.malwarebytes.com with the email address used for purchase & I can reset the license there.
That is the main reason for the my Malwarebytes account.
This most recent issue is actually due to them finally, after all these years, implementing a full and proper license management system. The transition is a bit rough for some unfortunately. But once everyone gets migrated over and has their My.Malwarebytes.com accounts set up with their licenses they will be able to manage, deactivate and migrate their licenses between devices without having to seek assistance from Support to handle it any more. The trouble is, getting all these legacy licenses into the system and validated can be tricky which is why so many users are having this issue. In the long run it's definitely worth it though, as it's far easier to manage licenses in the new system where you can actually see and control all of them as well as check to see where each is installed.
I feel the same way. But when you have been misled by a shady retalier that you lifetime key is good for more than one system and now you find out you were scammed, People are pissed.
For example, This was posted on a site for technicians like my self. I Being a reseller knew it was bogus and tried to set them straight but who knows how many listened.
