I don't have the information but I believe the "not showing" in startup is part of the protection where malware cannot disable it.

It's not the only one, I don't have anything in Startup. Anyway. after toggling it it on and off in Mbam and multiple system restarts it doesn't start up automatically.

You can do it from Task manager, just takes a couple steps, go to services, then click on Open Services, then go to MalwareBytes, and turn it off from starting up automatically .....there are other ways too. CCleaner will do it too.....for example.

I'm glad you've sorted out your MBAM issues. Regarding the Malwarebytes Service, we had a conversation about it some time back...

Best way to speed up PC?

    Hope that helps.

My only concern was that I didn't want it to startup automatically or to interfere at all unless called to check for malware it's supposed to. It was always staying on even after it's GUI was closed but that I got used to. I'll let it stay in 1809 for now. I do much of experimenting in Skippy so don't want any interference.

    Just to clarify...

When using the Free edition and when you're done performing a scan, close the main program window. Then, right-click the system tray icon and choose 'Quit Malwarebytes.' This is the proper way to completely quit the program (including stopping the service). Clicking 'Quit Malwarebytes' can also close the main program window for you if it's open. When you do this, MBAM will not automatically startup with Windows. Of course, you should have set Malwarebytes to not start with windows either in Settings or through the system tray application's context menu.

The fix I mentioned previously (toggling 'Start with Windows' On and Off) was to fix a glitch caused by the update wherein MBAM would start automatically with Windows despite quitting the program from the system tray icon. Sometimes it would also start running in the background during the same session post quitting. Toggling the setting On and Off would fix this particular issue.

Tnx, I finally caught up with all of tat, now the only question is weather I need it or not. Didn't have any problems for it to solve in long time now.

Locking down your browser and having some smarts about browsing will keep it that way Count. The age of actual virus' and things of that nature is dead and gone. Most of the "baddies" now are money grab schemes, like coin miners etc. If I had to buy it year to year, most likely I would have the free version of MB as well. I have a lifetime license, so I disable WD and only run MB with all protections active.

The only "detections" I have gotten were from the other Malwarebytes program, AdwCleaner, and those were just random stuff like the search engines in chrome (Ask, I think). It did have one FP which was Wise Disk Cleaner, which they have fixed.
