It must be a glitch in MB settings post update or maybe in WDSC. I had the free version update without forcing the 14-day trial on me. If you don't mind giving it a last chance, may I recommend a clean uninstall and reinstall of the free version. After installation, you could change settings as desired to run as an on-demand second opinion scanner while still in Premium Trial mode and then deactivate the trial to switch to Free mode.

I don't think they'd kill the already limited free version or sabotage it in any way.

I still have it in my 1809 windows although I'm mostly using 1903 Skippy. Will see what happens after 14 days passes. On the other hand, I haven't had any job for it for over a year. WD on the other hand, also has some capability to react on PuPs so at least in that part it would be doubling the resources.

Well, you don't have to wait out the 14 day trial period. You could deactivate premium trial now and convert it to an on-demand scanner that takes up resources only while you're using it. It hasn't found anything on my system either but it serves well as a second opinion scanner you have in your security toolkit. I don't think most people would rely solely on it to provide them primary security.

How did you "convert" it ?

See Post #1168. In my response to Cliff, I've provided a link "deactivating MBAM Premium Trial" with instructions on how to. It looks like text in blue but is actually a hyperlink.

Also, before you deactivate the Premium Trial, make sure you have all settings as desired for an on-demand scanner.

Thanx. I did all that, deactivated (pushed button) also but it's still starting with windows despite these settings. Please look at it at your convenience:

I think somebody earlier on said if you toggle that "Start at Windows Startup on/off, it corrects it. A fluke with this rev. It's back on the thread somewhere. The Tray icon will probably always fire up, but it's just there for convenience, not running anything. You could hide it. Or disable in Task Manager/Startup. Hmmmm... can't find that.....

I copied what he said TC ....here is his exact instructions....

The only issue I had post update was MBAM not honoring the "Start with windows" setting that was set to Off, which is due to a glitch in the update program. The fix was simply to turn the switch On and Off again to re-register the setting.

I'll try that as soon as I finish system checks as Startup is not showing any options and programs. Don't know why.
