[QUOTE=Phone Man;1437117]I have newer gotten a notification. I guess because on MS Update Tuesday I check a few programs for updates before doing an image with Macrium so everything is current. I check MB, Norton, Firefox, Vivaldi, and check their extensions and Flash. I also run sfc/scannow after all updates are done.

I have never run SFC on my comp. I usually rely on a defrag or CCleaner.
I checked out how to run SFC and it looks easy and trouble free.
Is it better to use than the above.......?
If it is such a good tool to use, why doesn't MSFT create a shortcut for us to use?
Why make it difficult for us ?

SFC (System File Checker) is not a cleaner or AV or defragger or anything like that. It checks the integrity of system files used for component services. It's run from an elevated command line, and will fix/repair what it can from the stored component backups. It is not a substitute for any of the above, nor are they substitutes for it. Two totally different worlds.
