Installed CU4.1 3.0.6. 1469-10103 and it did solve the problem where Windows Defender Real-Time Protection was disabled with previous MBAM version installed.

I had Malwarebytes on my Surface Pro 4 before updating to the Windows Creator. On update, I noticed Windows Defender Real Time Scanning was turned off and it said I was using Malwarebytes. I then came across this and installed the latest Malwarebytes with Component package version: 1.0.103. I just ran the install file and did not remove the previous Malwarebytes. After install, windows Defender real time protection was turned off. I had to exit Malwarebytes, then I could turn on windows defender, and then ran MB. It looks like both are turned on.

Will Widows Defender Real Time protection stay on now or will it kick off? With the new Windows Defender, am I not to run Malwarebytes at the same time?

    thanks,

    Mike

On my systems I let the MB update service give me the CP 1.0.103 update.

Malwarebytes does not recommend installing a new version over an old version. They recommend using MB-Clean and then install the new version.

So if you still have a problem with Windows Defender then use MB-Clean and reinstall.

Have to say I'm becoming concerned at the situation with Malwarebytes.

I as a page/week or so back fresh installed the recommended MB update. It ran fine un until a couple of days ago, at which point the web protection started switching off again.

Following contact MB seem to think it's likely down to 'silent friction' with Kaspersky Total Security. The provided work around is pretty lengthy but basically amounts to setting up exclusions for MB in Kaspersky.

It feels more like a hack than a fix for public consumption - and raises an (uninformed on my part) concern that it may create other security risks. It's certainly odd that one company is suggesting settings fro another's product.

There's a definite impression about that the companies might not be co-operating with each other.

Can anybody offer an informed view on what may be going down, and on whether a solid fix is likely in any reasonable time period?

    Thanks

@Brink, Shawn - I've seen reference to MB-Clean several places here. Could you put a link to it in first post?

    Thanks, TC

Guess I'd hoped somebody more informed than myself might be in a position to offer a view as to what's happening.

The latest advice I have from MB is to go into Kaspersky to set it up as a trusted application.

    Does this seems reasonable?
