Same picture here. Also cause MS Services and Control app to spin @ 12-15% cpu on an i7-4790, at the same time MBAM service is spinning and MsMpEng is spinning. That goes on for 5-7 minutes, then settles down. No rhyme or reason for what triggers it, just random, but consistent.

    Mines currently sitting at 4.5mb.
The taskbar tray takes only 4.5mb, the service itself takes almost 280mb. Far too much unless Malwarebytes thinks that it is four programs in one and so only 70mb per. Windows Defender takes about 75mb.

I get that also, cpu spins up, my fans that are controlled by Corsair link (my water cooler for CPU) also speed up everytime the cpu goes up from MalwareBytes. No other app in my entire Task Manager uses as much memory as MB does....not even close.
Think they STILL have a Memory leak.

Technicality, I know, but FF is hungry, too! But that's a whole different animal, for a whole different thread, at a whole different time!

I just uninstalled MB3 and banned it from my main PC forever.
I just received 2 BSODs back to back, then it didn't even want to complete a scan.
It has also BSOD'd before a couple times.
If I get a BSOD, it should be my fault, from trying to push my CPU a tad higher, not from an antimalware program.

Like I told @Kari around New Year's, this year, I'm not putting up with any software crap, and software, be it 3rd party, or from Microsoft will get banned when it doesn't perform as it should specially after an update... but only from the machine it's not working on.
I don't have time to go through any rig-o-marole and try to see what's causing it. I use the same software as I have for years, and if after an update, it gets weird, it goes.

Oh yes, our New Year's resolutions. Mine was not to start drinking workdays before 6 PM. I hope your resolution has worked / will work better than mine...

Seriously, I can understand your new policy. It makes a lot of sense; your main PC is there to serve you, allow you to do whatever it is you want to do with it. If you continuously need time and effort to get a particular piece of software working, it's not worth of itt.

What neverved is, I had turned off the rootkit scan a while ago, as many others were getting BSODs from it. I wasn't, but with my BIOS settings, not rootkit is going to be able to get foot on my system:

I had BSODs which occurred as soon as I'd go on the Internet when MBAM 3 first was released and had a support ticket going for awhile; but the latest version (3.06.1469, non beta) has been good except occasionally upon first boot one of the protections needs to be manually started. It's always a different one, Web Protection one day, Ransomware Protection some other day. It makes you wonder if they're really on but showing in the interface as off, or are they even really on when you put them on manually. Doesn't exactly instill confidence.

The only problem I had with the latest version was twice it reverted back to the free version and I needed to reinstall; this when I have a lifetime license. But I found that Shadow Defender was the culprit causing some glitch. Still, MBAM 2.0 never had that problem with Shadow Defender.

They've got work to do and I'm not sold on keeping MBAM should other troubles arise.

Hello. Windows Defender did something nasty to my machine and now I cannot access the Internet through any browser although my system shows I have connection. Just get the nutty "This webpage is not available" with "DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN"....
