MBAM ordered for now.
Which Version would be compatible with My Windows 7 64 Bit Ultimate System.

I use Malwarebytes too. I have a lifetime subscription. Cost me €24 or $26![]()
If I try to open the free version or uninstall it or install latest version I get an error window with "the application failed to initialize properly 0xc0000279". WTF is that?
Win 10 pro upgraded over Win7 Pro
Hi::)
This is more of a "news" thread than a support thread.
So, I suggest the following, for starters:
Please carefully follow all the steps in this pinned topic to uninstall your current version of MBAM and reinstall the latest build - MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x
>>Please be sure to reboot when prompted by the removal tool.
>>It's a good idea to reboot again after the reinstall.
If that does not resolve your issue, then I suggest starting a new post, either HERE or at the Malwarebytes support forum HERE, for further assistance.
Thank you,
MM
For real-time protection, I have used the free version of Avast AV for several years. I was thinking about finally switching to a "better" paid solution such as MBAM Premium. However, I often read about MBAM being considered more of a general anti-malware app than a dedicated anti-virus app like Avast, AVG, Kaspersky, NOD32, etc. What's the general consensus around here... is MBAM Premium acceptable as your only real-time protection app, or should it be used in conjunction with one of the other AV apps?
Hi:
You wrote:
MBAM is not an antivirus and is not a substitute for one, as explained here:
Does Malwarebytes Anti-Malware replace antivirus software?

No, it is not.
MBAM Premium is designed to run alongside a robust, realtime antivirus (either Free or Paid).
It provides layered protection against certain types of non-viral malware often missed by the AVs.
You may wish to add MBAE (Free or Paid), for another layer of protection.
MBAM and your AV largely protect against the "what" of malware.
MBAE protects against the "how".
And no software application or combination of applications can protect 100% of computers 100% of the time from 100% of malware. The most critical security component is the one between the chair and the keyboard.
Thanks,
MM
