Windows 10: Latest version of Avast Antivirus
NEW Avast Antivirus 2015 R3 (2015.10.3.2223) released. See first post for more details.
I am using it in Win 7 (AIS) it still is an RC3 Build and not ready yet. Maybe it will go final this week. The other flavors have.
Knackered my 10166 on initial scan. Let it 'remove to chest' what it thought was a Trojan. Left me unable to open Windows apps. They open but briefly and disappear. Ok then, restore from chest? No chance, because the administrator won't allow it. Can't get at the file to take ownership because Avast has isolated the file.. Bah humbug.
Restoring to the previous preview version also carried the corruption. So had to 'reset' Windows and that worked.
So no Avast for me for a while.
I updated to the latest version and now each time I reboot it brings up a UAC window asking permission to run. Never did previously.
It's listed to start with the PC in msconfig.
I'm a huge Avast! fan, but, I think I will stick with Defender for a while, until the dust clears.
Any word on release date?
