    PC Maintanance question

My first post so please be gentle with me.Also I am not an expert do sorry for this potentially dumb question .....

My PC runs Windows 10 with office 365 & I use internet explorer with AVG free.

In addition I use the following additional free security software once a month: CCCleaner,Spybot, glary utilities. In addition I have purchased I Malwarebytes.

I am purely a home personal used and use PC for surfing the Internet and downloading music etc.

Am I going over the top with all the additional software or duplication etc ? Also do I have any obvious omissions ?

The general rule of thumb is.................
    1 anti-virus
    1 firewall
1 anti-spyware/anti-malware in real time protection.

I am not sure you should or need to have both Spybot and Malwarebytes ( paid edition ).
Some users will claim there are no conflicts between the 2. I am not sure about that.

Other than that, you have enough.

Remember this............ having 2 of the same kind running in the same computer might create conflicts which will, in effect, reduce degree of protection.

You seem to only have 1 anti virus app, so that's ok.
You have Malwarebytes installed, which can run along any anti-virus app with NO problems. ( I do it myself, for last year or so)
You have CCleaner and Glary's utilities, no problem as I have them too, both registered also.
I don't have spybot , but I do have Hitman Pro, and SuperAntiSpyware Professional These 2 do not run on my computer, I have them turned off, and run them manually when I feel like checking for PUP's . Malwarebytes DOES NOT look for ANY PUP's so you do need a program that does, that's why I have Hitman Pro and SuperAntiSpyware Both registered.

I don't see any problem with your installed apps. Just make sure only 1 of each runs automatically. You might want to check out SuperantiSpyware as their is a Free version. Might be better than spybot, ???
    Take Care, Mike. :)

I have only Windows Defender as Real-time Protection and Malwarebytes as On-demand Protection.
If Malwarebytes did not detect PUPs, I would be flooded with PUPs.

Wrong David, sorry. I have Malwarebytes run 24/7 or whenever my computer is on, its on, scans automatically in the morning.

Never finds any PUP's Its posted on their site too, I believe. When I run Hitman Pro manually, it finds anywhere from 5 to 12 pups. I bought Hitman Pro cheap last month, for a 2 year license. So after that I run it against my SuperAntiSpyware app that has a lifetime license. Just to compare them. Seems they both find the same PUP's where Malwarebytes DOES NOT, and NEVER HAS. :)

Why you continue to say that when I posted the screenshot showing Malwarebytes detecting PUPs ?
As of now, I have 14 on the list and Malwarebytes is still scanning.

Perhaps other programs detect more PUPs than Malwarebytes, but that does not mean Malwarebytes does NOT detect PUPs.
