I intend to keep the Malwarebytes, it listed a whole bunch of items it found. I need the McAfee more for the AV protection than anything else. It was originally installed on the computer when I got it, but everything had to be erased and redone when the original software went bad.

Oh, I just rechecked. I reloaded the McAfee, now it's listed as up and running. Thanks for all the help. Learning to use Win10 is like learning a new language....and I'm not good with languages.

That's good the MBAM found all the crap. I would ditch McAfee (uses too much resources) and go with Avast free with Malwarebytes anti exploit added. Good duo IMO. Also it wouldn't hurt to run another scan with MBAM.

Ok understand, you also paid for this version too, If I understand correctly? I would suggest after your subscription runs out you might want to use Windows Defender at that point, as it is just as good as your McAfee and comes with your Windows 10 for FREE. Just a suggestion for you to think about. :)

Understood, OldMike. I will keep your suggestion in mind. I always appreciate suggestions from those who know more than I do. I think the Malware did do more than one scan, because I had to approve removal of what it found twice. I don't see Windows Defender on the list of programs. I think it was on there before they redid the software. Pluto TV also disappeared.

Your Windows Defender is not running because it has been shut down by McAfee.
McAfee has its own defender, having 2 defenders running in the same machine will create conflicts, not to mention redundancy. That is why WD is being shut down.
WD can be restarted as soon as McAfee is uninstalled.

Windows Defender is part of Windows 10 operating system.
It cannot be removed or uninstalled.

Windows Defender is inside Windows System under All apps.

Click Start button > left side, near the bottom, click All apps > scroll down to alphabet W > click Windows System > Windows Defender is the last one on the list.

Okay, you're right, it's still there. I paid for McAfee, so i'll use it. It was on the computer when I got it, so I assumed it was supposed to be there.
