Windows Defender keeps asking me to complete a scan?

I run a scan but as soon as I have rebooted and within an hour or so it asks me again? I receive the notification in the taskbar and Windows Defender turns orange and states I am unprotected. So far I have completed 3 clean scans today but after a reboot it is as if it does not remember that I have run a scan. I am running the latest Windows 10 pro.
    Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Try these Tutorials, they may correct your problem.

    #1, SFC Command - Run in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums

If the problem still persists try this.

    Use option 1.

    #2, DISM - Repair Windows 10 Image - Windows 10 Forums

    Good luck...

By chance are you using Ccleaner, or something similar, which deletes the Windows Defender scan log? If the log is deleted Windows Defender has no record of when the last scan was done and notifies again that a scan is needed.

Hi, thanks for your message. Yeah I sussed it out a few hours after posting but I have been away from my computer for a couple of days but not had chance to mark as solved. You were correct it was Ccleaner. Strange how it never did it before and I always had that option ticked on Ccleaner.
I have not seen the notification all weekend now so it looks like it is resolved :)

I'm glad that worked for you. I was seeing the same annoying notification; then I learned I was doing it to myself lol

    >>I read about Ccleaner but cannot find the box where Defender is mentioned in Ccleaner.
    Please advise and thank you.

It is under in the Utilities list, under the Applications Tab in CCleaner. Just untick it :)
