Firewall missing

This is about Windows 8.1, which I'm half thinking of upgrading to TP. A few months ago after a couple of updates the Firewall went missing in action, I don't think its Malware, I've checked with heaps of Malware programmes, and it was straight after an update.

I've tried Scannow and fixing up some other stuff that stopped as well, but no luck. Even the updates weren't working anymore, but I've got them working again, now it's just the Firewall, any suggestions.

I rang Microsoft about it they suggested downloading 8.1 which I tried but won't work, I think because my serial no has MCE in it. So I downloaded one off a Torrent site which hasn't fixed the problem, I'd rather do it legit, but ringing Microsoft is going to cost me around $80 to $100.

Yes SFC works in 8 done it plenty of times, fixed a lot of registry problems which stopped running. Like I said after the updates a lot of things stopped working, I got nearly everything working except the Firewall.

I suppose I'll have to register again to go on Eightforums, I was hoping someone here might have a quick cure.

Yeah I've got free Zone Alarm running and MalwareBytes. I did the services.msc thing ages ago and found a lot of stuff not running, got nearly everything running gain and did SFC. The error code is 0x8007042c and says it can't change some of my settings.
I think the problem is in the Diagnostic Policy Services but don't know where.
