I have been using EMET without problem for over a year, but I have now uninstalled it ahead of the Fall Creators Update.

Use will be blocked. Consider using the Exploit Protection feature of Windows Defender Exploit Guard as a replacement.

I installed this, then I realized I do not really understand what it is. Can I remove it? No one told me to install it. I made it a very long time without it.

    Hello Tony, :)

Actually, you no longer need to install EMET in Windows 10 anymore if you have Windows Defender Exploit Protection turned on.

Ok, so if I installed it and I see it? It just does not matter? I should just leave it? I saw it pop up in my Systray. I do not really understand what it is. Assumed it was a virus / maleware scanner. So, it was installed. Then, I figured installing things I do not understand is a bad idea. So, I asked. I will leave it be unless someone smarter says otherwise!

The Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit (EMET) is designed to help customers with their defense in depth strategies against cyberattacks, by helping detect and block exploitation techniques that are commonly used to exploit memory corruption vulnerabilities. EMET anticipates the most common actions and techniques adversaries might use in compromising a computer, and helps protect by diverting, terminating, blocking, and invalidating those actions and techniques. EMET helps protect your computer systems even before new and undiscovered threats are formally addressed by security updates and antimalware software. EMET benefits enterprises and all computer users by helping to protect against security threats and breaches that can disrupt businesses and daily lives.

Basically, more security protection against exploits.

If you don't want it, you can safely uninstall it from Programs and Features.
