Just curious......
Do you stay up to date on versions of AVG (FREE?) ? I download a new version just about once a month.
I've been using it on every build of Windows 10 since 9926, with no installation problems.
I've used AVG FREE versions just about as long as they have been in the AV business. That's quite a while.
And I've never had a version that failed to install on any of my (many) computers, with every OS from XP to Win-10.
When I installed 10162 as a upgrade, it disabled several things on my little HP Laptop that I'm using for testing (64bit).
One was System Restore and the other one was AVG. I had not restored AVG till just now, with a Repair Install and it went off without a hitch. But be aware, there are two distinct versions of AVG. There is the X86 (32 bit) version and the 64 bit version.
It's important to use the correct one for the hardware and OS you're installing it on. I keep both versions on my Utilities disk, since I work with so many different computers. (I'm in the business).
Download a fresh copy of AVG, like from File Hippo and try the install again.
If you have a corrupted install, you might need to use the AVG Removal Tool to clean house before attempting the re-install.
Good Luck!
