Malwarebytes causes "saves" to be super slow

I installed Malwarebytes free for the first time on my audio recording computer. And when I save a file using the audio recroding software, Cakewalk, the "save" is super slow, about 3 or 4 sec opposed to the normal 1/4 sec. I uninstalled malwarebytes and the saves were fine after that. Is there a setting that can stop this from happening?

I use it as secondary scanner so I launch it manually. By default, it will start with windows. I disable that.

You could try putting cakewalk on the allow list. It may be scanning your saves there. Not sure

My version looks different from yours. I don't see Allow List. My version is 5.1.7.121 on the 14 day free trial. So I assume I'm using Premium. Your says Free 4.6.9

I have recently installed it on my 3 computers. I uninstalled it on my recording studio computer and so I'm looking at it on my internet computer. I went to settings and chose "Configure protected apps" (top pic).

it seems I saw something that would enable me to bypass premium and go to Free. i definitely plan on using Free on all my computers, since Premium is overkill for me. I also think in my case, it's a good idea not to have malwarebytes on startup. Here's what I see

I tried the newer version 5 too. I did not care for it. When I uninstalled it, I was offered to go free. This is the version I received (you will too) and prefer.

I installed it again and chose no windows startup. I rebooted and that worked, no big pause on save

    Good to here.
You won't be pestered by updates either. The first thing malwarebytes does is check for updates when you run a scan so no worries there.
You can also get them manually without running a scan. I sometimes do this before an offline scan

Malwarebytes is an excellent AV, Updates are sometimes more then once a day. The only thing I don't like about it is that quick closing the interface window does not close the program. You have to close it by right clicking the icon on the taskbar and select "quit malwarebytes"

When I ran the scan on my recording studio computer, all I got was Chrome notifications stuff to quarantine. I'm very careful with this computer only doing music related browsing. I'm only using Defender, so this is working fine
