Windows Defender is not performing its recommended actions on threats

I'm running Win 10 Home, 10.0.19045 Build 19045 (22H2). Fully updated. At least it should be since it nags me every 2 weeks or so.
Defender didn't remove the items. So I booted to safe mode and removed the WindowsDefender\Scans\History\Service.

A MVP told me to delete the entire contents of this folder but the Scan results wouldn't delete.

I deleted what I could, rebooted, did an offline scan, rebooted again and now I'm right back where I started.

Any help is always very appreciated!

    FYI:
ClearDefenderHistory | Clear Windows Defender History Files

Save any work. It will initiate a reboot into safe mode.

Although I'm the admin of this PC, I do not have permission to access these files.

To Clear Defender History is absolutely no solution for the problem!

for s.o. who fixed it probably not. But I never had such a prolem so that I want to avoid suggestions. I know that Sudo can delete History Files but why do you want to delete a history file from October last Year when that doesn't have any influence on the current problem.

    Maybe read:

    windows-defender-identifies-same-threat-repeatedly

Windows Defender erroneously scans its PUP scan records

Run a scan with something else and see if the machine checks out clean. If it does, then it's a problem with detection history.

That's normal. Use one of the methods posted already. Either use clear defender history script or UVK delete on boot. There is even a screenshot of that.

Once history is deleted run another scan.

Because it contains the detection of a threat from yesterday's scan. The 26th. I did a Sophos and a ESET scan. ESET found 6 items but none of them are the one from yesterday's scan.
