Something about "Windows.SecurityCenter.WscBrokerManager" - no idea...

So I was working in Outlook, then suddenly my mouse pointer went everywhere and I had no control of it, it simply went its own way and opened close all kinds of windows and made Windows 10 x64 latest version reboot.

I am using Microsoft Defender only (default setting) and am behind a router with a firewall.

Checked the event log. A boatload of EventID 131, EventID10016 and EventID200-201-202

    EventID10016
The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Launch permission for the COM Server application with CLSID
    Windows.SecurityCenter.WscBrokerManager
    and APPID
    Unavailable
to the user NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM SID (S-1-5-18) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC) running in the application container Unavailable SID (Unavailable). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool.

    EventID131
Metadata staging failed, result=0x80070490 for container '{81B23A1D-B8CF-11EC... etc.etc.}'

    EventID200
A connection to the Windows Update service could not be established.

    EventID201
A connection to the Windows Metadata and Internet Services (WMIS) could not be established.

    EventID202
The Network List Manager reports no connectivity to the internet.

It could be temporary glitch, I don't know.

    It made me worry though.

Except for Windows Defender I have no other way to figure out whether my laptop is infected (IF at all...!)
Do not know how to make Windows more secure.

My laptop (Levono Thinkpad) is suitable to run Windows 11. It has a "Discrete TPM 2.0, TCG Certified" on board, but is running windows 10 x64 right now.
(I hesitate to install Windows 11: my desktop PC is not suitable for Windows 11, so maybe it is inconvenient to go back and forth switching between 10 and 11(?) )

Q1: could the above events have been the source of this weird behavior?
Q2: As for updating to Windows 11: what will be the impact?
Meaning: will my desktop background change? Will the applications (desktop icons) work like with Windows 10?
Or do I have to make all kinds of adjustments?

I do admit, this is a vague story. Regretfully I have nothing else to go on.
This strange behavior made me worry though.

    Thanks!

Hi, impossible to suggest a 'fix' for that of course... but...

    - has it happened again?
    - have you run basic checks on disk (3rd party program and chkdsk C: \scan) and RAM?
    - was there any indication it was beginning a Windows update? (Do you have that permitted or blocked during your normal use of the PC?)

Backup- do you have a reasonably current disk image and suitable System Restore points?

it is inconvenient to go back and forth switching between 10 and 11(?) )
Probably as some things have moved/changed

From another point of view, one person reported problems having upgraded and then reverted...

Will the applications (desktop icons) work like with Windows 10?
Should do unless you have something unusual... e.g. modifying Windows' GUI...

Meaning: will my desktop background change?
Entirely depends how you've set its source.
