    Annoying pop up from antivirus

After using AVG free for years with no problems, suddenly this last few days it keeps opening a pop up saying "We have barred access to sublimity.uk as it is a URL.Blacklist". I can't find anything about this so thought it might be AVG trying to get me to upgrade to paid version as AVG is no longer available.

I removed AVG and installed AVast before realising it's basically AVG! Still coming up with same pop up but not as often. AVG was doing it for virtually any website I visited.

Any ideas? All suggestions welcome - is it a true threat? If so why suddenly appearing?

Should I change to another Antivirus program?
    thanks in anticipation.

Before I switched to Bidefender (paid), I used Bitdefender (free).
It worked well, was very light on resources, and very fast.

You might want to give it a try.
Bitdefender Free Antivirus for Windows - Download Software

NOTE: Any time you remove an AV program... do a search for it's removal tool, and use that to remove it.

Most folks just use Windows Defender, with Malwarebytes (free) for a 2nd opinion.

When using Avast some years ago I used the custom install option where you can choose not to install certain modules. One of those was the Web reputation filter.
No idea whether that is still the case.

Web Browsers also have that feature and much less annoying than the Avast offering.
SmartScreen for Edge, and similar feature with Chrome.

So another AV may have the same feature which you cannot configure or switch off.

Check your browser for websites that you have allowed to display notifications. Your problem URL might well be on the list and if so you can revoke permissions, remove the website or else block it.

Cannot find it on notifications list. If I try and connect to sublimity.uk , I get "cannot access server" and the damn pop up appears!
I'll remove Avast later, change to Windows Defender for a few days then as suggested will try Bitdefender.
I did full virus and Malware scan and nothing found other than the usual "your webcam is vulnerable etc" I don't have a webcam on this PC so that's a marketing hype methinks......
Does not seem to happen when I'm on forums such as this.

Will update in a few days and THANKS for all the advice.

I just run the standard Windows Defender and Chrome. If I try to access "sublimity.uk", my browser just says "Coming Soon", in plain text. Nothing else

Possibly, it is like a parked domain (not used) which could be used to redistribute malware.

The fact that your PC tries to connect to it suggests that it might be indeed malware.

    Just a moment...

Sorry for delay in updating. I found a setting in Avast for"web screen". toggling it off seems to have cured the problem! Still getting pop ups but these are these are the normal "dodgy website" ones. I am going to try bitdefender as recommended, as I still have niggling doubts with Avast.
