Are there secure MOBos / laptops out there?

Problem I have is that if you take out the CMOS, you'll reset the BIOS,clearing the BIOS password. This is insecure.

Are there laptops or MOBOs out there where this won't happen? Do enterprise laptops have this feature?

Why do you want/need such a level of (perceived) security?

Perceived? I will argue it's actual, not perceived. Don't you find it scary how someone could just physically get your laptop, remove the CMOS, put it back in and voila, they have access to your BIOS? Not cool with me.

And getting access to the bios doesn't give them access to data on a laptop removing the battery to clear bios isnt so simple

It does tho. You could boot into something like Hiren Boot CD and erase BitLocker and you just got access to the user account and all their data, file shares, etc.

At any rate, can you people please answer the original question: are there consumer mobos or laptops that have this feature, or do I absolutely have to buy enterprise-grade laptops for this?

Not really. I would imagine that if I, or anyone else for that matter, had such sensitive data that they wanted to keep *T*H*A*T* secure wouldn't leave it lying around on a portable device like a laptop.

I think the level of security that you percieve can be achieved just doesn't exist.

I see, but are you also saying that enterprise-grade laptops' BIOS can be unlocked just like a regular laptop? Like, I could just pull out the CMOS from the workstation and put it back in and I'm done? Not saying I would do this, but to me it's surprising IF you're saying that enterprise-laptops don't have this security feature I seek

I'm completely fine with having to buy enterprise-grade laptops btw IF they have this feature

I think if you want to pursue a guarantee to that level, a casual forum of opinions such as this is not the appropriate forum.

Opinions aplenty, yes ... guarantees, on the other hand .... Meh!

So you don't know if there are laptops like this or not?

I haven't seen a motherboard for either a Desktop or a Notebook that had a CMOS [Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor] chip that could be removed, have been soldered to the board. The BIOS stored on the CMOS can be set for the Users needs/desires, either flashed/updated or the battery removed to allow discharging the User's settings and any passwords on it [not the OS password]. The only real security I've seen has been in removing the Boot/System/OS drive.
