    Annoying Windows Defender

    Hello,
I have some program for almost two years and it works fine.
The source file (from which the program was installed) is stored in a separate folder.
Today when I started the computer, Windows Defender started started shouting there is a threat on the computer, when I opened to see details, it pointed to the source file mentioned above.
I tryed to delete that file, could not.
Tryed several times untill I managed to delete the file, even from the recycle bin.
But Defender kept on shouting about that same file which is no longer in the computer.
Tryed to clear Defender history - not allowed. (Once I wrote about on this forum).
Well, tryed adding "Take ownership..." to the context menu - no results.
Now from time to time Windows Defender keeps annoying about that file which is long gone.
    I can use some help,please.
    Thanks
    Motim

The script here always works for me.

Clear Windows Security Center (Defender) Protection History

    ClearDefenderHistory.bat

Note the warning on taking ownership.

You can also use a third party file explorer that uses system privileges to delete. See:

    Hello,
    Thanks for the answers.
Ran the batch file as administrator (twice) - Nothing happened, the history folder still there.
Ran "Q-dir" also as administrator - Not allowed to delete the folder.
Also tryed "Everything" as found on some answer - Not allowed.
Is there something else I can try ?
    Thanks

@Motim Did you try the one I linked? Just run it. It will self-elevate.

    Hello,
    Thanks.
Yes, I ran the batch file extracted from the zip file.
For a second or two, there was the black box of command prompt on the screen with nothing in it, and vanished.
Opened file explorer - the history folder still there.
Well, I think I tryed everything, problem still exists.

What is the path you're trying to delete?

Can you post a screenshot of Defender? It should show no history after running the script.

    Hello,
    Thanks.
Attached screenshot after running the batch file.
    Path is: C: >ProgramData >Microsoft >Windows Defender >Scans >History >Service. >"Detection History".

    Q-Dir or Dism++

Thanks. I just tried both programs and neither would delete the folder. I then ran the attached batch file.

@Motim I've never seen the script fail to clear the history before. I assume your account is an Administrator and you've restarted the machine, so it may be worth trying it under another account, such as Administrator.
