    Ditto on the above.

Anyway if it's not working for you there are other ways to delete that folder and / or it's contents.

Personally I would use UVK (installed or portable) to delete on boot. It might be overkill to install UVK just for that one problem.

    Windows Defender Annoying

@Motim I've never seen the script fail to clear the history before. I assume your account is an Administrator and you've restarted the machine, so it may be worth trying it under another account, such as Administrator.

    Hello,
    Thanks for all the answers.
Well, yesterday it was late at night, so I turned off the computer (after all the manouvers) and went to bed.
Today just checked, the history folder with all its content still there, but defender is quiet now.
Cannot mark this threat as solved - sorry.
But Thanks to all who answered and for all the answers.

@Motim Did you try running the script while logged in as Administrator?

    Hello,
    Thanks for all the answers.
For my computer I am an administrator. (I am the only user).
    I made a last try:
    1. Used "Q-dir" as administrator, marked 'Enable folder access...' and 'Enable privilege...', try to delete that folder - could not.
    2. Used 'Dism++'... folder not deleted.
    3. Ran the downloaded batch file as administrator, on the first run, the black box was full with Red running text (like a video).
    Rebooted and nothing happened.
Next run - please see attached screenshot.
    4. I even tryed to boot to the command prompt with "Macrium rescue media", that folder (and others) was not on the list.
Well, I think I tryed everything (even "Everything") so I give-up.
Defender is quiet now until next time.
    Thanks to all.

@Motim I specifically wanted you to try the script under the Administrator account so that you would be running under a different profile. It may not make any difference, but it's an easy thing to try. And just double click the script. Don't open Cmd or PowerShell.

Tip: When logged in as Administrator, you can just browse to your user Downloads folder to run it. No need to re-download.

The original script is a PS program hidden inside a batch file. You run it from CMD, and don't try to copy/paste the lines into a PS window.

If you really wanted to run it as native PS, then remove all the lines from the top (<# .... goto :eof #>) and save that as a new *.ps1 file, and run it from an Administrator PS window.

    To delete folder

1.Browse your computer with Windows PE and or Linux distro and delete the folder/file. ( however if there is an issue with the file system it might not load )
    2. Log into your true administrators account and delete the file from there ( has to be enabled via Net User commands )

    About Windows Defender.

    1. You can Disable and Enable Windows defender with a .bat script etc.
    2. You can use "Shut Up Windows 10" ( OOSU10 ) in order to disable defender or even disable all notifications from all apps/programs.

    About other anti-virus

    1. Maleware Bytes ( kind of hard to uninstall )
    2. Avast
    3. SVADAV ( kinda hard to uninstall and can stop working after a time )
    4. Kaspersky

Point I am making is almost any Anti-virus will work as a replacement. Especially ones that cost money.

You could use a third party tool to access windows defender as well.

    Not quite.

I've run across this issue more then once. "Wise Force Deleter" has worked everytime in removing the "service" folder at C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Scans\History.
Keep in mind that you must toggle "Real Time Protection" off\on afterwards in order to clear defender's protection history list no matter how you delete the service folder.

One answer mentioned "UVK" program. First I downloaded it.
This morning took some break, installed that program as portable and gave it a try.
Well, that stubborn foder finally gone, Defender protection history clean - empty.
That folder gone only on reboot.
Now I can say problem solved.
    Thanks again
