Stopping Windows Defender from blocking a program as a virus?

I run a medical program on my PC which always gets blocked or removed as a trojan - The program in question is definitely NOT a virus and does not have a virus!
I cannot find a way to allow this program to run without interference. I can restore the program via a repair but the next time I try to run it, it gets blocked again?
I need to permanently stop Defender from removing/blocking this program but cannot find a way to do this?
Any advice or help would be appreciated.

Windows 10 pro fully updated 22h2 OS version 19045.4046.

    Hi Willabong

Very simple. You just need to add an exclusion in defender. exclude the programs .exe: You can exclude entire folders if you want. If you look at defenders protection history, it states wich file it's mis-identifying

You can also use PowerShell's Add-MpPreference cmdlet.

However, I've found that the easiest and quickest method by far is to use sordum.org's small, free, portable Defender Exclusion Tool.

In particular, I like being able to add the Defender Exclusion Tool to my context menu so I can just select a folder or executable file, right-click on it and choose Add an exlusion.

Exclusions are now just a single right-click away...

    Hope this helps...

Thank you all for your help! I did it the hard way without problems - But I also downloaded the Defender Exclusion Tool for the next time!
