    Ok let's run another program "ESET" !

    * Select Enable ESET to detect and quarantine potentially unwanted applications
    * Click Start scan
    * Once completed click Save scan log and save it to your Desktop as ESETScan.txt
    * Click Continue then finally click Close
    * Copy and paste the ESETScan.txt file contents in your reply or just let us know everything is good !

    * If not existing, please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.
    * Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
    * At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.

    * If the program is already installed:
    * Run Malwarebytes Antimalware
    * If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
    * Once the program has loaded, select Perform fullscan, place a checkmark on all hard drives, then click Scan.
    * When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
    * Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
    * When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location.
    * The log can also be found here:
    C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\log-date.txt
    * Or at C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\log-date.txt
    *** Post that log back here or just tell me what it found ?
    If it is to long then you will have to zip it or find a site to download it to & let me know where !

    Post the logs so i can read them unless nothing is found ! If they are to big then zip them up & give me a link !!

    Thanks !

    "2 hours or a little more" It took a total of 8 hours. And now I can't find the log although I sure thought I saved it to the desktop. I will look for it tomorrow.

    Nothing detected ! So I guess I am fine. Thank you so much!

    Damn - I just got a notification of a PUA. Is there anyway to prevent these or do I have to shell out $49/year and buy Malwarebytes.

    Now I have 5 of the same ones as before!

    And if I use malwarebytes do I have to use both of the others again? I am so frustrated!

    Sue,

    I know it must be very frustrating for you. I'm sorry.

    The best protection against PUPs is to be vigilant when installing software. Especially 'free' software.

    Here is a short article you may appreciate reading.

    I personally, run Malwarebytes 'Premium', but if you do not want to pay the fee, I understand. I would suggest to you however, that your download the 'Free' version, and use it as you wish. It is an on-demand/stand alone cleaner.

    Hopefully @flashh4 will offer you a suggestion, as well.

    Wishing you the best.

    EDIT ~ I know the above may sound contradictory (free software), but if you download directly from Malwarebytes site, it will be clean.

    Morning @SueJohnson, ...... @WXC gave some good advice about the2 programs 1. AdwCleaner is the best for PUP's which you can pick up along the way of surfing & downloading stuff ! Here is a brief explanation:
    Downloading popular software from other than the official website is a particular danger. The PUP is often an add-on/extension/plug-in installed in your browser. PUPs can be many things — search engines, toolbars, shopping advisors, coupon sites, or ad fetchers, for example.

    The Malwarebytes program is used to Scan and remove viruses and malware with Malwarebytes. Our software includes multiple layers of malware-crushing tech to find and remove threats like viruses, ransomware, spyware, adware, and Trojans. Download for free to scan your device. Upgrade to Premium for always-on protection against future threats.

    Both are FREE programs or they do have a paid version of Malwarebytes ! Which i usually recommend to all my clients & to run when ever they feel something is wrong, usually pop'ups or computer slowing down ! I use mine every 3 days but i go into some questionable sites checking out Malware & viruses !

    ==============

    Anyway to your problem please run both programs (AdwClearner & Malwarebytes) again & post the logs so i can see if they are connected to something we might need to investigate more !

    I have yet to see a Malwarebytes log from you so i need to see it please !

    Thanks !

    I ran both programs and they both said no PUAs were found but I still have the 5 PUAs.
    By the way both addresses you gave me for finding Malwarebytes did not work. Under programfiles --> Anti-Maleare there were no logs. Under Username --> documents no Application data was found. I did save the report.
    Interestingly I never got a message from the forum that you replied to me.

    @SueJohnson .................. yes those logs look clean ! Ok lets get a more thorough look at everything, please make sure this is downloaded to the desk top or it will not work !

    FARBAR (FRST)
    Download Farbar Recover Scan Tool for 64 bit systems <<<< Downloading Farbar Recovery Scan Tool >>> and save it to your Desktop. <<< Important
    If your computer language is other than English right click on the FRST64 icon and rename it to FRST64english
    * Right click on the icon and select Run as administrator
    * Note: If you receive any warning about the download it is a false positive and you can ignore it. Click on More info to get the Run anyway option
    * Click Yes to the disclaimer
    * Click Scan and allow the program to run
    * Click OK on the Scan complete screen, then OK on the Addition.txt pop up screen

    2 Notepad documents should now be open on your desktop.
    Please copy and paste the contents of each report in separate reply windows

    Thanks ! Not sure why the forum didn't notify you !
