I have a problem with - The threat service has stopped

    W10, ver 22H2.

I decided to uninstall Comodo anti-virus. I was hoping that I could then easily switch over to W10's built-in anti-virus.
Inside W10's Virus and Threat protection settings, I clicked on the Restart Now button to restart the threat service, but I get an "Unexpected Error", and that the service can't be restarted.
I noticed inside the Windows Services section where all the services are listed, that only the Windows Defender service is listed. None of the Windows Anti-Virus services are listed.
Do I need to reinstall the Windows Anti-Virus services? I'm afraid I don't know what to do at this stage. I'm not knowledgeable about this topic.
Thanks a lot for any help!! It would be very much appreciated.

When you uninstalled Comodo, did you use their removal tool?
Most antivirus programs have kernel drivers which don't always get removed properly.
This can cause issues when switching to another AV or back to Windows Defender.

If you didn't use the removal tool... re-install Comodo, then use the removal tool to remove it.
Sometimes you CAN get away with using REVO Uninstaller.

But it's always best with AV programs, to use their own removal tool.

Then, when you're sure all of Comodo is gone... if WD still has issues... then you should probably re-install it.

Thanks a lot. When uninstalling Comodo, I simply used the Add/Remove option inside Windows, rather than anything specific to Comodo. (This appeared to work normally.)
I have now reinstalled the Comodo anti-virus package. However, I can't seem to find its specific uninstaller.
Also, the removal tool doesn't appear to be available on the comodo website. (At least, I couldn't spot it.)
I might go ahead and uninstall it once again, using Add/Remove (as I can't seem to do this using an alternative method), then attempt to reinstall the Windows anti-virus services...

Sorry. That's just the "How to use it link"

    You can get it here...

I am browsing the web using Firefox, with NoScript and UBlock Origin plug-ins installed. I've accepted all options for those plug-ins for the Comodo website, but still, I am unable to see any downloadable links/URLs for the specific removal tool on that website/webpage.

    See post #4

Silly me, I just assumed the download link would be on the "How to use it page".

Here's what the links look like...

If for some reason they don't work for you... restart Firefox in Safe Mode (Help > Troubleshoot Mode)
That will run Firefox with no extensions.

Here... I just downloaded it for you and stuck it in a ZIP file...
It scans clean locally and at Virustotal.

    ciscleanuptool_x64.zip

    ciscleanuptool_x86.zip

Just extract it to your desktop and follow the directions, here...
