    Installed norton 360, how do i stop windows defender


    Hi All,
    I have installed Norton 360, i cannot find how to stop windows defender running, i understand its not advisable to have 2 antivirus programs running at the same time
    Newbie here, any help welcome

    Norton's installation procedure should have included stopping Defender for you.
    You can check in Control panel, Security & maintenance. It should refer to Norton.

    In that case, you can click on that Virus protection - View in Windows security entry and it should refer to Norton there instead.
    And if that also contains no reference to being protected by Norton then I think there's a problem.

    Incidentally, the illustration I posted before was where the reference to Norton would have been in previous Windows 10 versions. If it is now shown in Windows security instead then I think it will be in
    Windows security, Virus & threat protection, [on the right-hand side] Manage providers.
