Defender Quick Scan doesn't start after sleep or hibernation

    hi,

I observed this over a number of weeks now... i use hibernate a lot and when PC comes back, Windows Defender cannot perform its quick scan.... which is annoying as you end up getting this:

Defender Quick Scan doesn't start after sleep or hibernation-quickscandue.jpg

Now, this is what's in the event viewer:

Endpoint Protection client health report (time in UTC):
    Platform version: 4.18.23050.5
    Engine version: 1.1.23060.1005
Network Realtime Inspection engine version: 1.1.23060.1005
    Antivirus security intelligence version: 1.393.248.0
    Antispyware security intelligence version: 1.393.248.0
Network Realtime Inspection security intelligence version: 1.393.248.0
    RTP state: Enabled
    OA state: Enabled
    IOAV state: Enabled
    BM state: Enabled
    Antivirus security intelligence age: 0
    Antispyware security intelligence age: 0
    Last quick scan age: 4294967295
    Last full scan age: 127
Antivirus security intelligence creation time: 2023-07-13T13:23:44Z
Antispyware security intelligence creation time: 2023-07-13T13:23:44Z
Last quick scan start time: 1601-01-01T00:00:00Z
Last quick scan end time: 1601-01-01T00:00:00Z
    Last quick scan source: 0
Last full scan start time: 2023-03-08T09:29:32Z
Last full scan end time: 2023-03-08T09:48:50Z
    Last full scan source: 1
    Product status: 0x00080080

And that's way off, i noticed that "quick scan age: 4294967295" comes up only when resuming from Hibernation. Of course i can click "Scan Now" but it's so annoying seeing the yellow icon down there every couple of days.

If i do do Shut Down instead, then it can automatically execute and launch the scan normally.

Task Scheduler did his triggers yesterday (all 4 of them):

Is there a way to fix this or that's just the way the cookie crumbles?

    thanks,
    Gabrio

That is strange. My understanding is that 4294967295 relates to a Full Scan, with a number less than 100 relating to a Quick Scan, well it does on mine.

    These might help . . .

    > Enable or Disable Notifications from Windows Security in Windows 10
    > Turn On or Off Windows Defender Enhanced Notifications in Windows 10

On investigation, I also found these for you . . .

    > MSFT_MpComputerStatus Class
    > Set-MpPreference
    > MSFT_MpPreference Class
    > MSFT_MpComputerStatus

    I hope this helps.

Actually no, have a look at the screenshot below, that's correctly saying Last full Scan age = 127 (days).

Whatever he reports under Quick scan age is totally out of the window, since there was a quick scan just on 12.07 so 2 days ago,

It simply does not read when last Quick scan was if you resume from hibernation or sleep.

    check this out:

Dropbox - Defender Issue from Hibernation or Sleep.jpg - Simplify your life

Yesterday i had the warning all day, then last night i did shut down. This morning turned on the PC as usual then took those screenshots..

Later on about 30 minutes after the PC was on, then it triggered a quick scan and now it's green as it should.

This happens all the time over a couple of days when you always hit hibernation or sleep, it should trigger a Defender Quick scan regardless of the status you shut down the computer with.

Anyhow i posted this on Feedback hub, if anyone wants to upvote, that'll be appreciated -> https://aka.ms/AAlkjen

    thanks,
    Gab
