The problem is that Kaspersky is Russian. People are attacking Kaspersky and they are saying that it's no longer safe because it has become a big security risk and some places are banning Kaspersky.
I'm certain all those reports and claims are politically motivated and have nothing to do with software development.
It's not only Kaspersky an issue but also sports, I don't really understand what does sport or software development have to do politics?

You have to decide for your self based on philosophical thought rather than trough ideological worldview.
If you're going to drive yourself philosophically free of ideologies and politics then you may came to prudent conclusion that makes sense, otherwise if you want to be guided by politics then you should ask your self, "Is my reasoning correct?"

Btw. I'm not fan of neither Kasperky nor Russia, I only want to be reasonable in my life.

I always say choosing Russian software is a bold decision. There is nothing wrong with Defender. Of course using US supported software like Windows puts you at risk of backdoors installed at the requirement of the NSA and similar agencies. You might want to use a pen, paper and envelope if concerned.

FWIW, they have moved their servers to London to avoid interference from the Russian government.

    Kaspersky says this:-
"As a private company, Kaspersky does not have any ties to the Russian government and moreover Kaspersky is not subject to Russia's System of Operative Investigative Measures (SORM) or other similar laws, and is not obliged to provide information, since the company doesn't provide communication services.
Sure, and ther moon is made of green cheese. The Apollo 13 mission proved that. And Putin's FSB scrupulously follows all laws.

This has been confirmed by a third-party independent legal assessment of the Russian legislation related to data-processing. The results are freely available online and provide an unbiased and fair legal assessment. See https://media.kasperskydaily.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/92/2015/02/02060120/REPORT-OF-PROF-DR-KAJ-HOBER.pdf"
And there is freedom of expression for dissenting views in Putin's Russia. Never mind all those laws about "insulting" the Army or similar.
I don't know. It depends on what type of person you are. If you greatly care about politics and you support Ukraine then you would stop using Russian products. I don't care about politics and I just care that Kaspersky protects my laptop against malware. Kaspersky is a good antivirus and it has millions of users worldwide. If the Russian government ruins Kaspersky products and makes it unsafe and forces it to bundle malware and spyware with the program and people who are using Kaspersky are getting hacked then it's risky to use Kaspersky. However, I don't think that can happen.
And you believe that Putin "had" to invade Ukraine and call it something other than a war.

Kaspersky is a private company and the Russian government has no right to interfere with how Kaspersky products are made. If Kaspersky politically supports the war then it's their business and that doesn't concern me.[/QUOTE]

Rights in Putin's Russia? A country that assassinates its political opponents both inside and outside Russia? Surely you jest.

As others have said, why run the risk. It's unfortunate for Kaspersky, because maybe they are still independent.

If they truly want to prove their independence, they will move to Kviv. Lots of savvy developers in Ukraine. I used to work with a client whose dev team was all in Ukraine. He even had a Ukrainian girlfriend.

Is it safe to use Kaspersky? Probably
Is the Russian government forcing Kaspersky to turn over client data? Doubtful, but we may never know.
Should you trust the Russian government? Absolutely not, but I trust them no more or less then the American government.
