    Windows Defender screen going completely blank after a week


    After a week from the point of installing Windows, the Windows Defender page goes completely blank and doesn't give me any options to do anything. it's completely pitch black screen and I can't click on anything. Defender seems to be blocking files still but I want to get the screen working again.
    I've checked services.msc for any Defender related services and there's Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection service which I can't switch to Automatic, just throws a "Access Denied" box and an OK button.

    Had same issue but not after installation. Restart corrected the issue. Ran sfc/scannow no issues.

    Not taken time to research further.
