Win10 Bitlocker & UWF, bitlocker recovery screen caused by power cut ?

    Hi,

For one of our clients we create a Win10 image (version 1809) which uses UWF (Unified Write Filter) and Bitlocker to encrypt the total system disk. Bitlocker uses TPM and Recovery key. The Windows 10 is configured as kiosk device using ShellLauncher and boots UEFI safe boot.
The particular device has no UPS and it is possible to shut the device down without shutting down Windows properly. Until now we had 2 or 3 devices that asked for Bitlocker Recovery key on startup. Typing in the Bitlocker Recovery key did start Windows.
We would like to know why the Bitlocker Recovery screen pops up during boot but one might argument that the UWF should prevent possible problems. Help is appreciated.

When Windows starts it create and/ or open some system files (like virtual memory and temporary files). You should shutdown the computer by Windows so it properly close those open files.
If you shutdown by removing the power some files may get corrupted and a check disk must be run to fix logical issues.

Unfortunately that does not seems to be the case. When the Bitlocker Recovery key is entered no check disk has to be run to continue the boot succesfully.

Does anyone else has experience with Bitlocker Recovery screen popping up during boot when Windows 10 IoT is not shut down properly?
