    Uninstall Avira Free in 2023

    Windows 10 21H2 05 19044.26504
Somehow I accidently installed Avira Free and cannot uninstall it. I checked previous threads but they are all several years old and the links do not work.
I have Bitdefender Total Security installed and obviously do not want Avira. I am also aware that having double anti virus causes other problems.
    Regards

    1. Right click the Start button in the lower left corner of your screen.
    2. Click Settings → System → Apps & features.
    3. Click the Avira product and then Uninstall.
    4. Follow the uninstallation process.
    5. Reboot your PC.

Or... just use REVO Uninstaller (free) <---- VERY handy program. ^^
It let's you uninstall anything, AND will scan for leftovers as well.

Download Revo Uninstaller Freeware - Free and Full Download

    Sorry SENIOR MOMENT
It is AVG free anti virus that is the problem
    My W10 is the Home 21H2 05 19044.26504
I have tried with Revo uninstaller but does not show in apps list
In settings, apps the only option is top stop auto start
As Avira all threads are old
    Regards

FYI. Better to use a dedicated removal tool for installed antivirus programs.

Correct. For AVG, this is necessary. In fact, a dedicated removal tool is necessary for "most" antivirus programs.

Unfortunately, for proprietary brand-name specific "dedicated" removal tools, you're relying on that company to be honest in what's removed, and not leave behind little traces (e.g. crypto miners, etc, etc).

The price of installing egregious, invasive, insidious software.

Thanks for help people. I downloaded and ran the Uninstall Tool. The initial scan could find no reference to AVG. I then ran the Remove part and that ran for ages with restarts. Eventually finished but all files still on computer. Tried again a few times and have achieved partial success in that AVG does not start up when computer switched on. Icon in taskbar when clicked reports a crash and suggests a restart. Tried various apps to delete AVG files but none worked
End results all files on computer but AVG does not run so hopefully no conflict with my Bitdefender files.

Try this... "install" AVG again. THEN run the removal tool.
