Use a front-loading HDD/SDD caddy for 3.5/2.5" drives. For example, the IcyDock DuoSwap MB971SP-B.

    Described as hot-swappable.
Wow.. this looks very good! Greatly appreciate this find. So basically you put your SSD or HD into this docking station... is this right?

An even safer option is to connect a second router via ethernet cable (LAN from main router to WAN port on second router). Then connect games pc to primary router, and Banking pc to secondary router. This way the games pc cannot see the banking pc (in effect a new firewall protecting banking pc).
    Hi there,

But would a virus penetrate a 2nd router on the same network? If thats the case wouldnt a hot swap drive be better in security?

Yes. The caddy comes in two parts. A tray that you secure your SSD or HDD in (The one I showed allows both an SSD and an HDD at the same time) and a static surround that the tray slides in and out of.

Why not just run your games sandboxed? It's free and easy:

    Sandboxie-Plus (open source)
    Sandboxie-Plus | Open Source sandbox-based isolation software

That is point. Primary router is firewalled from second router. Sure hot swap drives are a solution but overkill in my opinion.

Wouldn't that have the same effect as merely having a single router & designating the network as a Public one so that the computers could not see each other?

i think he is talking about bridging(daisy chaining) two routers together the first router cannot see any pc's on the second router coz of the extra firewall.

I think if you have to choose between trusting software vs trusting hardware, then trust hardware

Malware may put your network to private profile, but malware can't get out of a PC and do anything to your router on second subnet.
i kind of agree here and an even better option would be to make the cracked game PC a DMZ instead so that way if it becomes compromised it is outside of the lan anyway no need for a extra router or of course combing both methods if you have the provision.

    That malware would have to
    - set the network to Private on the first computer,
    - set the network to Private on the second computer before it had any access to that second computer,
    - set up a shared folder on the second computer before it had any access to that second computer,
    - authorise access using an [enabled} Admin account & password that existed on the second computer upon first attempting to connect to that second computer i.e. before it had any access to that second computer.

I understood what he was suggesting.
I was suggesting that setting the network to Public would have the same effect; the computers could not see each other & could not communicate with each other, they would be isolated from each other as the OP wanted.

    All the best,

So I assume with this device you can turn off the gaming SSD then turn on the online banking SSD so theres no cross contamination with viruses. Am I right?

Not 100% secure and definitely not as secure as hot swappable
