    Kaspersky Total Renewal Questions?

I installed kaspersky total last year on my laptop. I first installed it and was going to use the 30 day free trial and also had to enter my credit card information so if I want to continue using kasperky total after 30 days, then I don't do nothing. But I would also have the option to cancel within 30 days so my credit card would not get deducted. Now when I installed kaspersky total, I did this while I was in the US. I then continued using kaspersky total.

At the moment, my kaspersky total is going to expire pretty soon. I do not want to renew it through kaspersky total because they are charging over $100 for it which is very expensive. Now at the moment I'm outside the US. I do see that I could buy kaspersky total for $20 or so on amazon.com US. Has anyone here done this and this is the same thing or similar to doing it through kaspersky? I mean that is a huge price difference with $20 vs $100. I do not want to pay $100 to renew it.

There is no issue with me using my US credit card while abroad as I used it many times before even ordering off amazon.com US while I'm outside the US when ordering this right? My question now is... can I order kaspersky total... and then enter the code into my kaspersky total account now since I'm outside the US or will there be any issue? Do I have to wait till my kaspersky total officially expires before I enter that code? I believe after you order kaspersky total, you will be sent the code to your amazon account? I also believe kaspersky total is different depending on what country you are located in? Has anyone ordered kaspersky total through amazon.com US and renewed it while abroad?

First off, you do not need any 3rd party Anti-Virus Software. Windows 10 and 11 come bundled with Windows Security (Defender) And it's free.
Second Off, $100 is Outrageous cost for this type of software.
If you must insist on using Kaspersky, you have to cancel you subscription with Kaspersky and then Uninstall the version you have using their Remover application https://support.kaspersky.com/common/uninstall/1464
Then you can purchase it at the discount price and reinstall that version. Personally, I think it is a waste of money.

You don't need any third party antivirus software since Defender is fine. Choosing Russian antivirus software is a bold decision.

I agree with others that paying for anti-virus is no longer a thing since there is one included in windows for free.
But if you insist on buying Kaspersky key on amazon you should first of all read their refund policy:
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/custo...M69DUUYKQWKWX7

Which states that you have no rights to be refunded for "Downloadable software products".
Therefor if your key stops working or is blacklisted by Kaspersky there is nothing you can do.

Kaspersky is a Russian company. Don't do it.

Just Windows Defender and WD or Norton 360 and WD.
You can safely add Malwarebytes Free on demand, as well.

    That's it.

So kaspersky total on amazon price dropped down to $25 now. It is normally $100 and when it was on sale last time it was $20.

Now would you say this is still worth it? Again I paid $60+tax last time for it. And this time, I did not feel like paying $100+tax for it but there is a discount that makes it $60+tax but is that too much?

The main question I have here is... if I purchase kaspersky total on Amazon US... I can activate it while I am outside the US where I am now right? I believe it has to do with which kaspersky you downloaded on your laptop and not your physical location? Anyone can confirm this?

Kaspersky free, how is it compared to kaspersky total?

The reason why I want internet protection is just in case as I don't think windows defender is good enough if say you click on some link?

How odd you believe Russian software is going to provide better protection than Defender!

Leaving the "Russian" part out of it, imo Kaspersky provides superior protection to WD.

My comment above is not based on this one test but numerous tests over the years I have seen.

    If anyone is interested.

This is an amazing video! you deserve your rep since this is obviously not your biased opinion unlike what one can hear from white-horse knights defending MS's infallibility.

I was always suspicious about WD detection rates for a long time and this video confirms it perfectly.
However I will still continue to use WD only because it's free unlike Kaspersky which isn't, which is unrelated to ideological BS about Russian vs American nonsense.

I believe primary measurement of the quality of software is not about it's origin but rather about the quality of the software itself that it provides.

I do however have certain suspicions about this video because it doesn't let us verify these claims on our own to be 100% sure, a level of trust is required.
What I will definitely do however I'm going to install trial version of Kasperky into VM and verify these claims myself against 200GB of untrusted data that I keep on external drive for over a decade, if it turns out be true I'm might consider Kaspersky, especially since WD found 0 threats in those data, but I'm fairly certain this data is far from reputable.

I have never seen anybody claim that Defender was infallible.

Defender has been ranked by AV-TEST | Antivirus & Security Software & AntiMalware Reviews as being in the top set for most of the last four years or so. Its results fell down the rankings last Summer and it has still not regained its normal full marks [6, 6, 6] yet.

I believe that the provenance of software is a key consideration since we have to trust that the software does what it says. The rule of open & accountable law is, to my mind, a key element of earning that trust.
