You have a point. However, Kaspersky TS is equipped with HIPS, part of which is application control. According to what the file attempts to accomplish and according to its own DataBase (Kaspersky Security Network), it constantly monitors applications and - in theory - if an app tries something shady, it will be blocked.

Do correct my understanding if it's false tho.
There is no doubt that Kaspersky is one of the best AV's however, by not following safe computing practices its only a matter of time before you encounter a zero day or open something and give it administrative privilege's, then your toast.

So you are saying when you are going to open a file or program or pdf file, if there is malware there, will kaspersky total protect your computer or not?

I know about that message that shows up when you open an exe program and how it says are you sure you want to open it... this was the message back then when I used windows defender. So does this happen with kaspersky total?

So if you click on a link but not intentionally, will kaspersky total protect you or not? Let say someone sent you an attachment whether it is a file or pdf file or picture and you opened it because you thought it was your friend who sent you it via email....but it was not. Will kaspersky total protect you when you download the file? What about when you open the file? So say the file has malware. If you download it.. let say it is a pdf file... do you have malware? Or only if you open the file? But when you open the file, will kaspersky total protect you? Same situation but now with windows defender.

So I have to renew it again soon. However, the cost of it seems to be a lot now. On amazon last time, it was under 25 dollars or so.

Now is there a point of renewing kaspersky total again or not? The thing is I don't do anything dangerous on this windows laptop but of course you can of course click on things if you aren't careful.

Is kaspersky total really that much better than windows defender? I just feel more comfortable with kaspersky total in case like I click on a link or something etc.

How much better is kaspersky total compared to microsoft defender?

I do not visit sketchy sites on the laptop but in case I click on something, I want to be more protected. So wouldn't kaspersky total protect you more though? Again the issue here is if you unknowing download something or click on something. I'm sure people do that by mistake so that is why I ask if always using kaspersky is better.

Choosing Russian software is a bold decision. Save your money and rely on Defender.

The reason why I ask this is because a while back I clicked on a link and it opened a website that may or may not have malware. I ended up checking with microsoft defender and it showed a ton of threats. I then removed or quarantined it but not sure if I got rid of it or not because every once in a while when I did a full scan on microsoft defender, it would show over 10,000 threats. But I believe this is a glitch right? The thing is because of this, I ended up formatting the laptop because I was concerned of malware on it. I then bought kaspersky total and installed it just to feel safer.

So what are your thoughts on that? The thing is shouldn't kaspersky total be much better? Again if you accidentally clicked on a link or opened a website by accident and it showed threats with your microsoft defender scan, shouldn't there be a lot of concern? Again I don't visit sketchy sites but somethings by accident I might click a link or open a website. The thing is I'm not sure if kaspersky would protect you the moment you visit a dangerous site? I believe it does so more and better than microsoft defender? Like imagine you clicked on a link on youtube by mistake in the comment section and now you not sure if you have malware or not. Wouldn't it be better having kaspersky total though?

Does anyone know where to buy kaspersky total for cheaper? Amazon has it but it cost over 50 dollars. The last time I got it was on sale for under $25.

Someone mentioned certain sites you can buy subscription code for cheaper but are those okay to use?
